Hi Roger!!!  I know.  It's crazy how long it's been since I've been on the boards.  It's good to be back talking to good friends.
How is my LDL eating?  I have the same results.  When I don't eat the let's do lunch way, I gain weight.  I've got around 10 pounds I need to lose again to get back to my goal.  So, here I am back on the train.

Btw, there is no judo, lol.  It's an illusion....a combination of the 1st 2 letters of my first and last name.

Thanks again Roger for the welcome back and for all you do to help us all eat right!
Love to you, Neets, and your family,

So true Roger!  I can attest to what you said about a little more bread here a little more regular cheese there.  The weight did come back slower BUT it did come back.

uuugghhhh....due to Thanksgiving and Christmas and then a head injury and allowing my husband to "take over" in the kitchen, i now weigh more than when i started!!! which makes me sad and ashamed...but i am getting back on track tomorrow (had to eat the chocolate chip pancakes my hubby made me for breakfast, lol)

the thing is ... i love eating the LDL way, i'm not sure why i ever stopped ... i guess i thought i was going to "miss out" at the holidays by not eating all the "bad" stuff, and really i'd be so much happier now if i hadn't given in...*tears*   :'(

oh well, it's what i do from this point on that matters now...

three of my faves include....pizza soup, taco soup and blueberry pie...

Well, I guess if I have to pick 3:  Fruit Smoothies, Fruit Pies, and Unstuffed Cabbage.  I have others but I don't believe they are in the books (Lentil salad w/Balsamic dressing and wilted cabbage with onions).  I am also experimenting with a Cauliflower Soup recipe I found (it's good hot or cold).  I hope to be posting it soon if it's not already posted somewhere.

thnx!! msheirloom~i  slipped and fell about a month ago, knocking myself unconscious, and giving myself a concussion.  since then i have had many epsiodes where my head will tingle or go numb or i'll get a headache then i pass out, it only lasts for several seconds, but it's odd.  they don't think i should still be having problems due to the concussion so i have had a couple ct scans and an mri.  they found a cyst on one of the layers of membrane that surrounds my brain on the scans, but can't figure out why it would be causing these episodes because of where it is....so i just had an eeg and i see a neurologist on may 5th...they had me on some meds for the episodes thinking they might be seizures and i had a reaction to it and then got some kind of infection so they took me off that and now i am finishinng up a round of antibiotics and waiting for the eeg results and to see the neurologist....i'll try to remember to post on here about what i find out!!

Sounds like they are thinking you may have had something going on in the head that actually caused you to slip and fall. They used to just accept that old folks especially women would fall and break their hip. Now they are thinking the hip may be spontaineously fracturing and that is what caused them to fall. Interesting concept anyway.
Praying it turns out to be nothing at all and that you can fully recover with optimal health.

A brain cyst can go as far back as birth and not be detected until something happens like a fall in your case. It can cause headaches, seizures, paralysis (tingling), change in mental status, balance, vision, etc. If your neurologist thinks that you may be having seizures, insist on having a video EEG before agreeing to taking any meds. A video EEG is where they hook you up to a monitor for about four days and watch you to actually see if you're having seizures. You do not want to take any meds like Tegretol, Depakote, etc. unless you really are having seizures.

Also keep in mind that your fall could have caused a HNP in the neck...a displacement of one of the cervical disc. That can also cause tingling in the head and down one or both arms but you didn't mention whether that was happening or not.

i realize this post is not all about me, but thought i'd give an update...lol

saw the neurologist and he says it's not the cyst that is causing the passing out as far as her can tell...  *grrr*

the eeg showed no seizures, although it cannot tell if i have had them, only if i am during the test (but i was told that those with epilepsy will have a characteristic brain wave that is different than "normal")...  :poo:

the neurologist did put me on meds for my migraines, but i can take up to a month to see a reduction and i have had one almost ever day since i have been on it?!?!?

i did go ten days with no passing out, but then started again?!? neurologist said IF it is post-concussive syndrome causing that, that it will gradually go away on its own...if it doesn't then they will check my heart and make sure it isn't that.  they will have me wear a monitor for like 24 hours and see what happens...

so really, i am not any closer to having an anwer than before i saw him...

hope this finds everyone well...
blessings...

Well, as many times as I've made it I have to say:

#1 niki's favorite bean soup
#2 tamale pie
#3 creamy roasted garlic soup -- this is so yummy when freshly made or reheated on the stove and not the microwave

I also loved the butternut squash soup, and the butternut squash fries and the white bean soup in the book that is so good with the herbes de Provence in it.
