Be Aware of risks of flu shots.

Post by crickadoodle »

I saw this today and it really opened my eyes.  I'd hate for something like this to happen to my mom -- or any loved one -- or anyone!

Hi, Rhonda,

I haven't received a flu shot since they first began giving them about 50 years or so ago (I think I was a pre-teen).  Anyway, we all got the flu shot, and we all got the flu!  Big time!  All 5 of us (mom, dad, sister, brother, & me) all at the same time!  (Really not fun when there is no one to help you).  Never had another flu shot, seldom got the flu.  I take my Vitamin C and try to stay away from anyone sick and use some anti-biotic wipes.

Tomorrow marks the first day of 4 months I have to wear a mask whenever I am within 3 feet of a patient because I did not take the flu shot.

I took the swine flu shot in the 70's and got sick.
I had the flu in the early 80's (fever 104.8, shaking chills and a cough that lasted 6 weeks that nothing would touch) when I was about 8 months pregnant.
I took flu shots after that with no ill effects (the virus was attenuated).

But then I started getting interested in regaining my health and treating my body as the temple of God.
I have been in very close contact with really sick patients with flu-like symptoms since 2009 and by the grace of God, mega doses of Vitamin C and D3, I have not had even a sniffle.

But for those who choose not to be diligent about what they eat and what supplements they take, they may need to consider the vaccine. We have been giving it since September 1st with no reports of illness after the vaccines. I think taking it early helps. I am going to be very observant of how those who take the vaccine fare compared to those who don't. A couple years ago, there were many kids who tested positive for influenza even after taking the vaccine. We will see what happens this year.

two years ago, i was forced to get a flu shot.....they were getting ready to make us get the h1n1 vaccine...then, nurses up in albany fought it and the result was that you violate the rights of health care professionals by making them be vacinated........

last year, most days i was at work, i didn't feel really well...it was more than likely my sinuses but since you can't be positive, i didn't get a flu vaccine...the truth was that last year we got a patient that had the flu and i was SO paranoid about going near this patient.....

this year, i got a flu vaccine, but mostly because my grandson is 11 and i often care for him and if he gets the flu, i would be the one caring for him more than anyone because my daughter works full time and wouldn't be able to stay home for a couple of weeks to care for him if he were sick.....

this video is really a play on people's emotions....i would never tell anyone to get a flu vaccine or not get one....everyone has to choose for themselves....i work around patients that are very high risk for it...everyone has to choose..

the truth is, there is a high risk when you get into a car....what is the risk you could have an accident?...higher than your chance of getting guillain barre..do you say you won't get into a car because of the risk of having an accident?.....every medication ANYONE takes has a slew of side effects, MANY of them life threatening.......the list of life threatening side effects are given to EVERYONE taking those meds.......millions of people still take all those meds....

i mean, there is definitely a risk of gbs with a flu vaccine...at my job, one of the contraindications of giving someone a flu vaccine is a history of gbs....the woman they're talking about is a nurse who was well aware of the risks and decided to take a flu vaccine...the tone of this video is just what i hate, making it sound like a conspiracy to give the world gbs by making them take flu vaccines without informing them of the risks....

i remember 10 years ago, hearing that a nurse at a hospital i worked at developed gbs after a flu vaccine.....i didn't get one for a number of years....some people don't need to take the risk to get one.....just like meds you take to keep your blood pressure down, every person has to weigh their risk and make a decision...people die from the flu....everyone has to examine their circumstances and decide...and, now i have to turn off this video i'm listening to because i can't stand the monotone of this woman's voice....

Niki, I agree that it is a decision for the individual, but the general public hears one side of it.  You need to be informed that the flu vaccines that are given each year are decided upon by people who are guessing which flu will be out there that season.  They often miss and unnecessary vaccines are given and the flu that is out there isn't covered by it.  There isn't even proof that taking the vaccine really prevents catching the flu.  Most vaccines have mercuryand aluminum in them and if you are taking them every year -- that adds up. I have to wonder about the harm being caused by that, as I see many developing Parkinsons disease -- which they've linked to aluminum.  (I've had a grandpa and uncle who had this.)

I guess the video is scary, but it is a true account of what these people have suffered from the choice to take the vaccine.  I feel for the daughter, because I guess I easily can put myself in her place, being I care for my mom.  There are also what could be considered scare tactics done by those who profit from manufacturing the vaccine as to the number of deaths from flu each year.  Like this article points out:

http://thinktwice.com/flu_lie.htm

I'm sure you could find statistics and articles galore from either viewpoint -- and it comes down to making the decision for yourself.  My advice, though, is to be informed.  Don't just assume there are no risks at all.

I've never had a flu shot and don't want one.  Just don't like the idea of injecting a virus into my body, whether it is "supposed to be" dead or not.  I have heard of numerous people who got the flu after getting a flu shot, including an elderly neighbor that told me some years back that after getting the flu shot, he got the worst flu he ever had, and that he would never get another one.  I also know someone who was told by their doctor, that his wife (who is also a doctor) was seeing many patients for the flu last year that had gotten a flu shot, as the people who make the shots picked the wrong strain last year.  Also, my mother-in-law got a flu shot last year and got the flu three times.  It was kinda funny, because even though all of her symptoms were flu symptoms, she thought she couldn't have had the flu, because she got a flu shot...lol   Jerrie :)

The flu is deadly and the film of the huge flu epidenic in the early 1900's is tragic.
For years they only vaccinated those who were most at risk, but knowing not all of those got vaccinated, the flu continued to circulate and kill more people, so the thought was to vaccinate everyone to try to stop the spread.
Back in the 60's and 70's they did inject live vaccine and most got really sick from it.
I have had the attenuated (killed) vaccine many times without effect, but since being on LDL and taking D3 and Vit C I have not even had cold symptoms, I decided to opt out of the flu vaccine the past 3 years or so.
I have noticed that those who took the flu vaccine with preservative complained alot about soreness og their arm and pain at the injection site. The flu vaccine we got for the children is all preservative free and the kids really don't seem to mind. Have to believe it is the preservative. So if you are at risk and feel you should get the vaccine, look for someone who is carrying the preservative free vaccine. Fluarix is the adult strengh preservative-free vaccine we have been using in the pediatric clinic for the older kids.

I am going to be 70 yrs old shortly and never had a flu shot until four years ago after I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. My doctor, a specialist in my disease, said "I must" get a flu shot and to get it as soon as the vaccine is available.  This is my fourth year of having a flu shot and I have never had any adverse reactions except for a sore arm (at the injection site only) for two days.

In my opinion... listen to your doctor, ask questions, and do what he/she recommends.

I agree with Crickadoodle. The public needs to be informed of the risk of taking any type of vaccine. They contain Mercury, Aluminum, Formaldehyde or Thimerosal (an inorganic mercury). They have been linked to cancer, Parkinson's, Lou Gehrig's Disease and Alzheimer's in adults and autism, asthma, allergies, tics, speech and/or language delay and ADD in children.

Information is so important.  I have taken the flu shot ever since the early 70's when I taught at Cincinnati.  The health staff brought the vaccine to the schools.  Since, I usually had bad cases of the flu, I took it and have so every year since except one.  That was the first year back where we live now.  Our schools started giving staff later.  The year I didn't take, I got it so badly.  I returned to work too quickly and got a set back.  It's terrible and really don't want it again.  Several in my family will not take the vaccine.  Each person needs to follow her own decision.  So many medicines have bad consequences.  I appreciate the info.    JF

Dr. Mercola's website featured this today, which is very interesting about flu vaccines and preventing the flu.

I read the newsletter this morning and I can honestly say that I haven't had a cold since I started taking Vitamin D. I also noticed that he mentioned Zinc. That's one of the first things my ex mother-in-law would give me when I started getting sick.

I, personally, don't take any vaccines because I'm allergic to them (I almost died back in 1977 when I was given a small pox vaccine to be able to leave the country to go to school in South America). But, now that I know the risk, I wouldn't take them anyway.
