My Dad did the grocery shopping 'cause he worked in the Safeway distribution center, and he could cash his check at the store. :D He wasn't opposed to helping out, but mostly did the outside chores, or wrangled the 4 of us kids to help in the house. He was actually pretty good at overseeing the jobs so they got done well and cheerfully. When my Mom got older and had trouble with her hip and shoulder, then he pitched in and did a lot of the housework.

My hubby helps out a lot, for which I'm thankful. I inherited a lack of urgency for housework from my Mom! There are always more interesting things to do.

Memories are fun, aren't they!

My dad did the grocery shopping because when he got out of the service in WWII Mom and Dad lived with my dad's mother and father.  Mom would have to go shopping with my grandmother.  She said Maw Maw would put everything back on the shelf that Mom put in the basket saying, "Paul doesn't like that."  Well, my mom came home in tears with no groceries.  From that day on, Dad did the shopping.  Mom told me the first time she went shopping after Dad died, she had her basket at the line to check out and then she started crying and left the basket there.  She told them she just couldn't do it.  She learned how to do it, but I do all the grocery shopping now.

Where has my hunger gone? I am feeling really good on this the Fifth day of the challenge. How is everyone else doing? And, how can I stem the compulsion to weigh every day? We have a doctors scale so it cannot be moved. (H'mmm I know a song like that) I guess when I am losing it is not so bad. Just when I have a leveling out (plateau) it will not be to good. So, I admit, I weighed today and am down a few more lbs. Drinking lots of water and minding my P's and Q's! Well have a blessed day and I wish all of us a very successful 2 weeks of "Seriously LDL"

I have always weighed everyday....I am a have to know person. If the scales go up it just tells me I have to be better, if they go down all is good.

Linda Lee, I used to weigh every day and I'm trying to cut down on that -- but that is just a personal challenge to myself.  If you keep some truth before you when you do "plateau" or gain a couple, it will help you.  First, so impt. to remember that muscle weighs more than fat.  If you are exercising with weights at all, you could be displacing fat with muscle -- which is heavier in weight, but smaller in size.  Also, sometimes your body will retain fluid for various reasons and this is not true weight.  Like if I'm exercising and overdo it, I'll get sore and your body will retain fluid when your muscles are sore to sort of protect the muscles.  Of course, eating salt at night will make you retain fluid that will show up on the scale the next day.  Overall, though, encourage yourself that you are caring for your body by feeding it right and eventually that will show up on that scale.  The scale does not always tell the truth.  Don't let it affect your joy and contentment.  Like for me, I got on the scale this morning and it was up a little, but yesterday, although I followed LDL in eating all approved foods, I ended up eating my biggest meal at night -- a little piece of meat and soup and veggies.  Various things happened yesterday like I actually cleaned my house and I put off eating that until I'd finished.  I'm sure tomorrow after I've eaten my meals in the right order, I'll probably be back down -- or possibly even lower.  I also exercised more the other day and I think I retain fluid there.  It'll even itself out.

Well it ended up being a bad week.  I am such an emotional eater.  We had a real scare with my 14 yr son this week.  He has been complaining of his shin hurting for a while so we decided to take him in.  They found a tumor on his bone and the dr was so concerned he tried to get him into a specialist that day.  We had to wait til the next day and honestly I ate anything and everything.  I was so worried.  A neighbor of ours was diagnosed with osteocarcinome (She was also 14) one year ago and they have literally been through hell and back in the last year.  I was scared and worried and just ate.  Thankfully the dr is almost sure it is not cancer.  He thinks it is osteoid osteoma which is a benign tumor. Praise God.  So then I ate in thanksgiving.  How in the world am I going to control this emotional eating of mine? When something bad happens I eat.  When something good happens I eat.  It seems like I just cant control it.  I plan on restarting on Monday again.  I will never reach my goal at this rate.

Got to get all the bad stuff out of the house so when you have those feeding frenzie moments, all there is to eat is only LDL foods. you can eat those in abundance without guilt.
In those crisis moments, it might be good to convince yourself that some fasting and praying for a time is the better solution. Fasting and praying in the spirit until I get a sence of peace has helped me through many a crisis. I have to admit that my fasting excludes coffee; not willing to suffer the headache interfering with my ability to pray.

*woot* ;D
LADIES, Check this out!!! It says in Leviticus 3:16 "All the fat is the Lord's!"  *woot* *woot* *woot*
Now, I don't want to hear that I might have taken that a bit out of context. :D Just accept it as so. Better yet, just keep saying it over and over while you eat LDL and voila' ... Goal reached!!! Hope everyone is finding success on their journey.

Imahoot -- yes, you are a hoot!!  I'll let Him have all my fat!

Jen -- Linda has great advice.  Keep yourself surrounded by LDL choices and then any emotional eating won't be so bad.  I used to think I was an emotional eater too, but I find that now that I have the high fructose corn syrup out of my system and the cravings are  in check from eating the LDL way -- I really don't overeat in that way anymore.  It is such a freedom.  But I do understand where you are coming from, just want you to realize you can be free of this.

Also, keep up posted about your son.  I'll keep it in prayer.

Count this green caped, #32, rollerblader in!  Currently I have a waist size of 34 and 1/2 inches and intend to be less than 32 inches by the end of December, hence the #32 on my green cape.

Jencita, just wanted to encourage you.  I know the toll emotional eating has.  Just dust yourself off and start again.  I didn't have a great weekend because we had company and it's so hard to be good when cooking things for them.  However, tomorrow I'm looking forward to starting with my bowl of fruit again.  Finally, a woe that isn't a hassle to get back on track.  Getting back on track is usually a chore...not with this.  Yay!

Good Morning All,
Just could NOT not weigh this morning. I have to quit doing that as my past history has been that once I start losing I decide "oh, I can have this. I am doing so good, it won't matter." Balderdash!!! It does, and I pledge to not go there again. I have probably lost 6 people over the years in weight loss and then found them again plus.
This plan really is working for me and I don't want for good food.
All my life I have been getting fatter on foods I dislike. You know the old cabbage soup. cottage cheese, or fasting diet. I even did the liquid protein diet and lost 120 lbs. Guess what? I gained it all back and then some. And I did irreparable damage to my body.
That being said, I have lost 6 lbs. this week. I say this not out of pride, but encouragement. Oh, I also had my mouth wired shut for 6 months and lost 80 lbs.  Of course you know what happened.
Have a great day and blessed week.
