Hi! I am Tara. I am new and just read Roger's book and hope to start tomorrow. I saw Roger on NY's channel 2 news one morning last week and ordered the book right away. I have around 30/35 pounds to lose and want to try something that I can live with. I hope this is it! I think I will have trouble on not snacking in betweeen meals. I always feel I have to eat something every couple of hours, and I try to eat fruit or cheese. Something "healthy"....but I am always hungry! Maybe that will go away when my cravings go away and when my stomach shrinks.
Any words of wisdom/advice are welcome!
Thanks!

hi tara...i'm so happy that you found let's do lunch...you're going to love eating like this.....i was always hungry too......but i've been on this for about 5 1/2 months which is longer than i ever stayed on a diet....AND,i'm not on a diet now......i've lost 25 pounds and for me(with an underactive thyroid)that's great(i posted my story on the success boards"my success story in progress")....
in the beginning, roger advises people to eat all they want whenever they want of the allowable foods...eat the sweetest FRUIT.......and NOW is a great time to start when the best fruit is in season....watermelon,cherries,bluebesrries..the list is endless......BEANS....homemade bean soups..there are loads of recipes....i make a big pot at least once a week and eat all week.....when it's too hot for you for soup(it's never too hot for me...i really can't live without them) you could add some canned beans(well drained)to your salad...there are a couple of posts about beans.......on the discussion board "beans..they're what's for lunch and dinner" and in healthy living "eat beans to be a string bean"......don't ever let yourself be hungry...keep the more portable snacks handy...popcorn("i can't believe it's not butter" spray..or olive oil spray)soynuts(with or without raisins) and dried roasted chick peas(if you can find them).......if you saw roger's interview in new york, you're from ny so you can definitely find them(greek specialty store...mediterranean market).....once you're off the unhealthy carbs(and sugar)your blood sugars will stabilize with the help of the beans you'll be eating and you'll be amazed how long it takes for you to feel hunger.........you're going to love this way of eating...you'll lose all the weight you want to lose and maybe more.....your body will stop losing weight when it's done(it'll let you know).......welcome to our boards....ask any questions at any time....and i mean this for all you guys just starting out................niki

Thanks Niki! How nice of you to give me some tips and great advice. I pray that this is the VERY LAST thing I try. I will NOT call it a diet, since we all know diet is a bad word! So tired of all the gimmicks.
Niki, do you have before and after photos.
Thanks again and I am sure I will be talking to you.

Hi: I am new to boards, etc. I saw Mr. Wilson in an interview on Channel 2 - The Early morning show in nyc last week. It pique my interest and I decided that I would check out his website. I liked that Roger said all profits of the book are donated to various charities and this was not another "get rich" book for someone. I also like that the website seems to be Christian based. It's funny, I received an e-mail earlier today from a friend with the Philippians 4:13 verse and here i am today browsing through your postings and have come across references to that verse a few times. It's almost as it was meant for me to check out your website and your postings today. I've been meaning to do it since last week and kept putting it off. I have tried a few diets before, most recently the SB diet, but always seem to gain the weight back. I am not very heavy but would like to lose about 15-18 lbs. I am going to purchase the book and look forward to chatting and reporting on my weight loss success.

hi jenny...i'm very happy that you heard roger that morning....i was browsing on christianbook.com when i saw the book and began to investigate what this was all about.....i was a lost cause and had given up on ever weighing a normal weight....when my loss totaled 25 pounds(in 5 months),i got pants out that i thought i gave away, that i never thought would fit me....now i know that one day those pants will fit me(i posted my story"my success story in progress")the Lord blessed roger with this program by waking him up in the middle of the night with ideas...and he shared that blessing with me and with so many others...i am so blessed...i used to feel that food controlled me.....now,it doesn't ...when you stop eating sugar and the unhealthy carbs(grains, nuts and seeds)your blood sugars stabilize, helped along by the beans you eat....and you have NO CRAVINGS..........
so be sure to eat the sweetest fruit....isn't it great?...frozen grapes,watermelon,pineapple.........experiment with all the different bean soups(there are loads of great recipes on the boards)i posted a very easy greek bean soup...there are so many.........EAT UNTIL FULL...and keep the more portable snacks like popcorn("i can't believe it's not butter"spray or olive oil spray)soynuts(with or without raisins)and if you live in ny,you can find dried roasted chick peas(with or without raisins)....do not allow yourself to be hungry.....in the beginning, roger tells everyone to eat as much of the allowable foods as they want, whenever they want....i have been so blessed by this program...and it won't be long before you're saying the same thing.....in Him...niki

Thanks so much to Marysimmons and Niki for your warm welcome and tips! I really appreciate it. It's really nice hearing from successful LDL members. I am going to start reading the book over this holiday weekend and plan to give LDL my whole hearted effort. I really am excited about started the LDL plan. Niki, I too have felt on many occasions that I am controlled by food. Lots of times I find myself eating just because the food is in front of me!!! I know that I should not eat or for that matter that I am not hungry, but I go ahead and eat anyway! It's really frustrating to not be in control of myself. I will look for both of your "Success Stories". Thank you for the inspiration and your optimism. I can't wait till the day when I can post my own success story! God bless! will be talking to you soon.

jenny...optimism is built into this program with no willpower necessary....i've been thinking about what you said about eating and i remember it all like it was a bad dream....feeling bad about myself....having no control over myself...shoveling food down my throat without even really tasting it....but for me,that's what it is now...a bad dream...
i remember buying my favorite whole grain cereal when it was on sale right after i started ldl....i thought "i won't stay on this long...when i go off it,i'll have it in the house"....and that stuff sat and sat until i gave it away....AND i went off the program for 2 days when i had only been on it for a month and went right back on....i've never done that before...other times when i would try to lose weight,i would only buy the snacks i didn't really like(ones i could resist)i wouldn't buy my favorites......NOW,this is the first time in my life,i have all kinds of things in the house....i don't live alone,so i can't empty my kitchen out...i buy things that i used to love(for my grandson or one of my kids)and they mean nothing to me....this isn't willpower...i had willpower when i was young...i haven't had willpower for many, many years........now,i have let's do lunch............niki

I want to add my very warm welcome to all of our new members! I just know that you will be very blessed by this way of life. (:
I'm sorry I'm not around much, but hubby and I are getting ready to move into a new home, so we are busy packing and sorting our home. I'm so excited! Not only with the new home, but with the fact that there will be a lot more options for us to get some much-needed exercise to go along with our LDL lifestyle! Bike paths, tennis courts, a swimming pool. God has surely blessed our family!
I'll try to keep in touch as I can!
XOXOXO ~
Tori

Hi there. I just saw Roger on Good Day, Houston and it sounds great. I'm going looking for the book and plan on starting this program soon. If nothing else it looks like an easily maintained health eating plan. And if it helps banish the cravings that's WONDERFUL. I have struggled with my weight since I began gaining weight in my mid-20's and seem unable to lose and maintain and loss. I had my stomach stapled about 10 years ago and lost 80 pounds but have since put it all back on. I seem to maintain my current 300 pounds fairly constantly over the past few years. I do have a medical condition which requires me to take prednisone and I hope that will not interfere with this program.
Thanks for being there!

Hello, Tara, Jenny & Lahtidah, I am into this new way of living on the LDL program and it is wonderful. I have tried a lot of other diets in my life and I always ending cheating and eventuallly quiting. Since I have been eating this way I have not even wanted to cheat. I think that you will love it as much as the rest of us do. Check out the wonderful recipes they are great. If you have any questions there are a lot of people on the board who are more than willing to help (I know). Have a great day and God bless each of you. Jean

hi.....i'm so happy to know you've found out about let's do lunch.....it sounds like you've really been through the mill....i didn't realize it was possible to gain weight back that you've lost from having your stomach stapled...eating this way WILL REALLY HELP YOU and don't worry about the prednisone.....with the absence of the sugar/grains/nuts/seeds,the cravings will be gone and this will help with the increased appetite you get with prednisone....and initially some fluid loss.....because of the prednisone,it's a really good idea to take a calcium supplement(you might already be taking one)...
just be sure to eat the sweetest fruit and to eat until full........homemade bean soups(loads of recipes on the boards).....keep the more portable snacks handy...popcorn,soynuts(with or without raisins),roasted chick peas(if you can find them)..especially in the beginning, never let yourself be hungry............wait until you have NO CRAVINGS..it's one of the things i like the best(it's a long list)..i posted my success story on the boards as "my success story in progress"........you're going to love this......welcome.....niki
