LETS DO LUNCH CRUISE 2009

PS......Someday we should have an LDL convention so everyone from the boards could meet in person. What do you all think?

Jim,

Miss Niki and I are tryng to plan an LDL Cruise but we cant get any takers lol.....

Okay someone pick a date and Roger, Neets, Niki, and I are there.

I think it would be so much fun to get to meet.

I figure Roger could get a free trip if he agrees to do a Let Do Lunch seminar onboard.

A cruise is the perfect trip for us lets do lunchers too.  Mounds and mounds of fresh fruits and salads.  YUMMMMM!!!!

Who's In???  Lets throw some dates around for 2008-2009.  Not too close...we need to give some of the members some time to save up, coordinate vacation time.

This is the very preliminary discussion phase...no one freak out.....just throwing out ideas.  If someone has another idea other than a cruise please shout it out.

Debbie

SIGN ME UP!!!

I'm serious, Debbie - I would LOVE to do this.  John and I have never really been on vacation - either together or before we met... (a very long story).  We've been throwing around the idea of a cruise for a long time... I keep telling him that a luxury cruise is NOTHING like the cruises he took in the Navy!!  LOL!

I posted right before I went to bed last night & just before I fell asleep, I thought of a couple of things:

Hurricane season is June thru November - I would say that we wouldn't want to do anything during those months.  December, of course, tends to be extremely busy for most people...  Since BEFORE June would be way too soon for anyone to save - why don't we start thinking of early 2009?  Just my thoughts.

Another thing - My uncle and his wife used to cruise all the time & he told me that since he was in charge of booking, etc., for the large group that they liked to go with, he was always offered his tickets for free.  What he did was took the discount and asked that it be distributed evenly and everyone got a little bit off their fares.  What I'm getting at here (the looonnngg way around) is that if we book as a group, the fares may be less.  I don't know if my uncle went with a travel agent or not, but I can certainly find out.  Might be an idea.

Geez, I need to turn my brain off at night!!  LOL!

Hey Ethyl we got two more for the cruise!!!!

Carolyn, we cruise every year and I think its something along the lines of one free ticket for every 10 booked if we do it as a group.  I have a really nice lady that we found out of Arkansas through a cruise travel magazine that is a cruise specialist.  She had the cheapest rates of anyone.  Even travelocity and expedia etc.  I can call Linda and she can set it up as the Lets Do Lunch Group and there will be a flyer we can post on the site with all the info.  She will provide rates for all cabin grades etc.  If Im not mistaken you even make like two or three payments if you like.  You have to commit by a certain date but I think if I'm not mistaken if you have to cancel....if you do it by a certain date like before the last payment you can get part of the money back.

If we are thinking Januaryish would anyone object to New Years?  We dont really do anything for New Years and I think that would be an awesome time to cruise.  We could give it to ourselves as our Christmas present for those tight on money.  Sort of a nice way to relax after the hectic holiday and a great start to the new year.  I think if You, John, Roger, Neets, and Niki can agree on a time we could just go with it cause you will never get 100% participation no matter how hard we try.  And as promised we can always make it an annual event!!!!!

We can even post on this site if you would be looking for a roommate so the singles could still get the double rate.

Okay well New Years is my suggestion....but I will certainly go whenever the group decides.

Love and God Bless
Debbie

New Years is probably ok....  ORRRRRRRRRR - we could make it around the 20th, which is my birthday - heyyyyyyy, we could call it my birthday cruise!!  LOL!! (just joking!)

I'll talk to John - this sounds like something to definitely plan for.  If it's ok, I'd rather not cruise the Bahamas - one time a LONG time ago I went there for the weekend - in either Jan or Feb & was bundled up all weekend... it may have been a fluke, but there was no suntanning for me that weekend..... :(  Anyway, again, this is just one person's opinion.

You guys are soooo bad.  I want to come but doubt it's possible as we're trying to work on getting bills paid off and trying to see about putting away for getting a house. That's the first and foremost in our minds. Maybe 2010 we can

Okay Birthday Girl....that means we will be leaving apprx. Jan 17th.  Does that work for Roger and Niki?  Let us know and I will start getting back with some prices and places.  I agree with Carolyn I dont want to wear a coat but this year we went in November and it was VERY PLEASANT mid - high 70's and it was FANTASTIC!!!  Ive been on cruises were it was high 80's low 90's and it was MISERABLE.  We will probably leave out of Miami or Ft Lauderdale if I had to guess.  I say we just start to go with a plan, give it up to God and see where he takes us.

For all of you who think this cruise is not an option for you please start praying now that God will find a way for you to join us on this wonderful journey with all your Lets Do Lunch Friends.  My husband and I seriously missed one year of cruising with our family and we were miserable. The next year we vowed come hell or high water we were going no matter what.  We made big SHOE BOX and sealed it up with duct tape and cut a slit in the top.  For the next year we both threw at least $25 a week into the box and more when we had it.  It was no surprise that we had more than enough.  Its easy to save it up when you know how worthwhile the goal is.

Love and God BLess

I have recently started Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. So I need to pay off some debt first BUT following his principles, with God's help. I see this cruise as 'do-able'.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!  That works for me!!!  Can we go for more than 3-4 days?  Please?  Pretty Please???  With a cherry (not those sweetened ones) on top?  Let me know.

I'm going to go home and tell John that we have to start saving NOW!!  I think I'll start a savings account at our bank just for this purpose.  We both bank at the same credit union, so we can both have access to this account... most of the time we transfer $$ back and forth online - makes things so easy!

Since I started working where I am, I don't have direct deposit - so every week when I get paid (yeah, EVERY WEEK!!  It is SO awesome to be paid every single week!!) - I put my paycheck into my checking account and then I transfer $50.00 to my savings account.  I figure that if I have to dip into it, then I do, but if not - I'm saving $200.00 a month!  Cool, huh?  And it only took me 51 years to figure that out!!  LOL!!!
