I just picked up a copy of the older Let's Do Lunch book and am reading it.  A friend told me about this and I have been looking at many of the posts and all the success and joy on this board.  I'm very excited to start this new journey and getting to know all of you...

Hi Julie,

Welcome aboard!!!  My husband and I just LOVE this way of eating - and losing weight!!!  He just wanted to lose the 15 pounds he gained since he retired.  He's almost there!!!  Well, I have lots more to lose, but today I hit my first quarter!!!!  I want to lose 72 pounds, and just today, I checked and was down 18.4 pounds!!!  I'm a quarter the way there and maybe half way by Christmas!!!

Think baby steps.  I divided my goal into fourths.  That way, I get to celebrate more often!!!

Best of luck to you!!!
Marga

Marga,

That's a very good idea. Setting smaller goals makes it much easier to succeed at anything.

By not setting smaller goals we will often activate the amygdala in our brain. It's the brain center that controls our emotions, therefore, we fail because we tend to start craving comfort food to counteract it and turn it off.

I was so excited when I saw the article about it in the September issue of First Magazine. I've read about it before and knew it worked. Now more people will know about it, too.

Welcome on board the train to Skinnytown
You will like it here.  The support team is great.  RT will tell you to read chapters 2-6 at least 3 times to get the whole concept of the program.  As you stick to it the pounds just keep dropping.  I am in week 18 and have dropped 31 pounds.  For some reason the more you eat the more you lose.  IT is Amazing.
CL    keep posting.

Howdy Do to you too Julie!

So happy you are with us!  Please use Roger's tip when you first start, and before you go grocery shopping, to go through your cupboards and refrigerator and throw out (or give away) any food that is not LDL approved.  I did this and it really helped me start off on the right foot.  I must say though it was really hard giving away my new package of chocolate chips  ;D .
