It's A Girl!

Those were the words that marked one of the happiest days of my life. I was in awe of the beautiful rosy cheeked little bundle the nurse placed in my arms. I was also a little in shock looking down at that sweet face and thinking "I'm a mom!"  And little did I know how much joy my daughter, Dina, would bring into my life and how much we would rely on each other and share our experiences.

Well, some of you have helped me to pray that Dina would join us on LDL. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and positive thoughts. Today she started LDL! Yeah!!!  Dina is a self proclaimed lurker. But with a little coaxing, I am sure she will come out to play. She actually has already tried some of the great recipes in the book. Her husband is also joining in, so they are good to go!

You  may see her journal in a couple of days and I know you will all show her the same loving support and encouragement that you have shown me because that is what you all do. You are all angels

I am so happy right now!  Welcome Dearest Dina!

Love  *love* Hugs  *hug* and Kisses  :kissed:

Congratulations, Julie!  :D

I can only imagine how you feel.  I have given out about 18 of the LDL outline to friends.  I has ordered the book that I know of.  Several are thinking about it and several didn't think they could do it.  They see that I've lost weight and I've told them I haven't been at this weight in 8 years and this time it was so easy.  How about a little prayer that my friends join us on the train to Skinnytown with LDL.  I'll look for your daughter on line.

*hug*

Julie, what a special event!  It will be so much fun to share meals together too.  They do live nearby, don't they?  I can't remember, but I know you've probably shared that info before.

Dina, welcome!!  You are going to love the food and love the results of the food.  I am still amazed that losing weight could be this easy and this painless.  Just 3 months ago I felt so fat and hopeless.  I almost had given up and was beginning to just accept it for life.  Then I found LDL and actually less than 3 months later I can tell you I feel slender.  My belly is basically flat and the rest of my body is shrinking in a very nice way.  I look younger and feel younger.  Do I sound like a commercial??

Julie- I am so happy for you and your daughter.  My sister and her two daughters are succeeding with LDL and I am so happy for them.  Does your daughter live close?  Best wishes to her and her husband as they embark on the healthiest eating plan ever devised!  Way to go.  Pam

Hello to Everyone and thank you all so much for your well wishes.  I promise to not lurk and participate.  I already put up my journal and will update it tonight with today's meals.  Please let me know if you see any error in what I am doing.  I am loving all the recipes and fruit smoothies!!  I am amazed that even though it's only day two, I am really not very hungry.  My munchies usually come in the evening, but the popcorn satisfies that very nicely, and I have been carrying raisins with me during the day for the Sweet cravings when I am out and about.

Thank you Mom and I love you very much!!!

BTW....Rob, my darling husband didn't make it through Day One.  But you know, it really doesn't matter to me.  I am concentrating on myself and not worrying what he does.  Maybe once he sees my weight starting to move he'll jump in with me.  Right now he's not having it.  Zachary, my 5 year old, is so funny.  He is thrilled by the amount of fruit we have in the house and loves helping me make smoothies.  He won't drink them, but he tastes and likes to work the blender. So that is very cute.  He keeps telling me how healthy fruit is :).  Ok, onto updating my journal now.

Thanks again to everyone!!!

Mz Lizzy, Donna, Doodlebug, Pam & LP,

You are all so very sweet. I am thrilled! Dina is my heart! She lives just a short (1) hour away; ok, 50 minutes cause I drive like a New Yawka!

We do get to spend a fair amount of time together -  most of it laughing and then crying from laughing. I can;t wait to have cooking days! I see vats of soup in our future. I was going to pop on line to see what I could find in the way of storage. Do any of you wise women know the best way to store/freeze soup? What kind of receptacles are best to use--- baggies? Tupperware? those Ball jars with the rubber gaskets?  Sorry - city girl here   Where are my farm girls?

Dina, my sweet,

I am so happy you came out of lurking mode. It's exciting to know that Zachary will have all the tools and info to create a healthy lifestyle because his mom took the first step. YOU ARE AWESOME!   I am so glad he is trying to help. I wouldn't worry about Rob. When he sees how good you look and how wonderful you feel, he will jump on again just so he can keep up.

I love you too! Very much so.  *love*

Even though I am a city girl at heart I have learned the ways of storing and freezing.  Zachary and I pressed the huge harvest tomatoes from my garden last year and froze the "sauce", which I used all winter long. It was wonderful, I never had to buy a can of tomatoes and my sauce was fabulous.  When researching the best way to keep it all I went to the Ball website, they now make plastic freezer containers with screw on lids.  They are 16oz each.  I use them to freeze stews, chili and soup.  Check out the website and see if you like them.  I was also tempted by the smaller 8oz size.  They are too small, don't buy them.  I did and rarely use them.

Canning is an ordeal and not very child friendly and baggies are not so good with liquids, unless you freeze the liquids first and then slide it in the baggie.  Too much for me, I chose the Ball containers.

Ok , just my two cents.....and how's that for not lurking :)

Dina, I just wanted to say welcome to the train.  Clown Lady is my mom and I let her dive into LDL first.  Good thing because, my thought was if my mom could do it, I could do it.  I have two boys of my own plus a DH, but they are way past 5 yrs old ( 16 and 19 ).  You will see over time that your family will start eating what is around the house.

Dina Welcome on board the train to Skinnytown
As for freezing.  I bought the pyrex dishes with lids to freeze my soups.  The larger one is good for DH and myself and the smaller round one's are good for one serving.  They will go from freezer to microwave to table.  Hope this helps  I also have the ball screw type and the small on is good for my refried beans after I open them  one in freezer and on in refrig to use.

Julie....I am so thrilled Dina has joined us all! As a mother and as a daughter, I totally get your excitement! My mother has the book and is doing her best to lurk here also, and one of these days she will get active on the boards and I will be ever so happy! So welcome Dina! This is truly a WOE that will work and you will feel so much better!

I use whatever plastic containers I have, but recently decided the square ones are better than the round as far as taking up space goes.  I have 3 very large square containers that have those new lock lids.  I think I like those best.  I tend to eat on the same soup until it is gone.  If it is about time to maybe spoil, I freeze what is left before this happens.  That way, I do not waste.  It is too good to waste.
