Re: Ollie's Thoughts and Things
With all this talk about parsnips I'm wondering if anyone has had them fried in evoo- with maybe some onions added?
Don't mind me- I'm always trying to find a good LDL substitute for fried potatoes! I've tried fried turnips and they're actually pretty good. Next I'm going to try mashed cauliflower and white beans made into "potato" patties and fried with my morning egg.
If I can find parsnips in the stores now ( in Alaska) I'll do some experimenting!

Sweet Rose, the nearest thing that I can make similar to fried potatoes is shredded Jicama and onions. Parsnips are good fried. I like them better, but not so for my hubby. He wants the real things. JF

Re: Ollie's Thoughts and Things
Got my blood work results yesterday. Six months ago my cholesterol was high. Now it's 133. Everything was in the normal range. Dr also cut my blood pressure meds in half!! Dr was very pleased with my weight loss.
Blessings,
Ollie

What a blessing for you not only to feel healthy but to be able to see the health returning in your bloodwork. I will be going in about 3 months again and I expect to see good results

Ollie,
Isn't it a delight to see LDL results? My husband had the same problems (high blood pressure, high colesterol) and is now in the normal range also. He love LDL!

Re: Ollie's Thoughts and Things
I have a question. I have my Morton Salt Sausage seasoning. The recipe in the red book for sausage calls for ground chicken. Has anyone ever made this recipe with ground turkey? Does the kind of meat used make a difference in the taste?
Thanks,
Ollie

Re: Ollie's Thoughts and Things
Thanks Mary. I was hoping I would be able to use the ground turkey. I understand about the more fattening ground turkey. I actually threw some away that was in my freezer when I started LDL. Didn't want that fat laden meat to sabotage what I was working so hard to accomplish. Can't wait to make my sausage patties!!!
Blessings,
Ollie

Re: Ollie's Thoughts and Things
Prayers are requested...my mom had a massive heart attack at 9:30 this AM. They were not able to revive her. Please keep all of the Barry family in your prayers in the days ahead.
Thanks,
Ollie
