HI Guys.
For those of you who have children in their lives, you should also look at the increase of soy products in the diet as a contributor to early puberty in children. If you are reading ingredients lists you may have noticed how soy has crept into a lot of our foods.
This part from the web: Soy has one of the highest concentrations of phytoestrogens, which are naturally occurring plant estrogens. In adults, phytoestrogens are generally considered neutral or even beneficial, especially from dietary sources. However, some researchers feel that the concentration of phytoestrogen in soy infant formulas may reach dangerous levels because these formulas are the only or primary source of nourishment for so long. These researchers claim that infants fed soy formula receive the estrogen equivalent of five birth control pills per day (based on body weight). About 25% of infants in the United States are fed soy-based formulas.
If you do a simple search, you can find a lot of info about the possible effects of soy on young boys and girls. I won't attempt to copy it here, but aside from early puberty bc of all the estrogen, the boys may begin to exhibit some feminine characteristics if the Soy estrogen tips the balance between estrogen and testosterone (as CQ explained above).
So if you are buying soy chips in an effort to keep the kids healthy rather than offering potato chips, you may want to do so in moderation if at all. Also note that a lot of power bars, protein and breakfast bars as well as shake mixes are soy based. You may be surprised at how much soy you were eating pre LDL without even knowing.
For me since I already have a depressed thyroid function, I probably made myself more ill in an attempt to eat healthy by using soy based shakes as a meal substitute. That is probably why I immediately felt so much better as soon as I started LDL. YEAH! Sure wish any of the doctors and specialists I had gone to had mentioned that possibility!
