I Survived Boy Scout Camp with a Loss!

Post by Ginny M. »

;D I DID IT!! I SURVIVED A WEEK AT BOY SCOUT CAMP AND CAME HOME WITH ABOUT A 2 POUND LOSS!!!  :rose:  :inlove:  ;D

True, I cooked for 2 days straight before camp  but I was prepared  :) .  I had Peach Cobbler for Breakfast (in individual baggies ready to go from freezer to bowl to microwave), made Neets Meatloaf (I could eat pounds of this  *love* ), bean salad, corn/pea salad, and KFC grilled chicken thighs with skin removed (I know a lot of you do not like the KFC grilled chick. but I have tried to eat chick. breasts and cannot get it down no matter what the recipe and when I make my own chick. thighs (roasted) they are only good the first couple days and then don't taste good anymore, but the KFC grilled thighs w/skin removed works) so I alternated the meatloaf and chicken, and had Pineapple Upside Down for dinner (in baggies ready for nuking).  Had my popcorn and frozen grapes at night.  The day camp broke up we went to town for a good steak dinner (all LDL legal).

Even a couple of friends said I had lost weight since they saw me last in early May.  I even sat at the tables (you know the kind they use for kids with the benches attached and the fold up in the middle) without being uncomfortable!  :D

So I keep on Hanging In There.  Something is working.

Like I always say it pays to plan. What is this Pineapple Upside Down?  Haven't heard of it.

Thanks, everyone.  I couldn't have done it without your help.  :rose:

The Pineapple Upside Down is:

        A ripe banana or two
1/2 can Well drained chunked pineapple
        Cinnamon (no sweetner needed)
Mashed white beans (I added this this morning and it tastes more like the "cake" part)

Heat in a big bowl (boil over) in the microwave until no longer liquid.  It will probably be over 5 minutes.  Play with it for your own microwave.    ENJOY!

Ginny, this is an example of true determination with all the planning required to make it happen. This should be a push for all of us!

Thanks, Granalin.

It takes a bit of planning but it can be done.  I do this camp every year.  This year I will again make and freeze my own food so I can stay on LDL.  It also helps that the camp menu is really only good for boys between the ages of 13 and 18 and on the go all day long.  I do a lot of sitting all day, actually, and would not be good with the high calories and high fat in the foods (french fries, burgers, hot dogs, speghetti, cookies and cakes, pancakes, waffles, pork sausage, etc.).  I eat the veggies from the salad bar with my own dressings and corn on the days they have that.  If course, the big meal of the day for camp is dinner, not lunch.  As RT has said, you can stick to LDL with a little planning.

Let us know how you are doing.  We're here if you have any questions.

*hug*
