Ron is scheduled for the PET Scan and the Endoscopathy (?) next Thursday, March 25th at the OSU Medical Center. The reason they are waiting so long is that he has to be off the Plavix and aspirin for 5 days before the tests.

thanks for asking.

Oh my goodness, Tim. It's great to hear from you!! Glad you are doing LDL. I love it. There are several other people in this area doing it and being very successful!!

Here is the link to Ron's caringbridge page http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/ronpaxton

Here the info that he posted today....

Preliminary Results:  None of this is carved in stone, these are the preliminary results from the scope, further examination of the results could change these findings.  From the scope and the associated ultra-sound done with the scope they could not find any involvement of any other organs.  Only the esophagus is involved.  The cancer in the esophagus has grown through all layers of the esophagus and into the chest cavity.  The cancer is pushing against the heart and lungs but has not penetrated them.  Dr. Walker staged this cancer at stage 3 out of 4.  Possible treatments could include both chemo therapy and radiation which have been used successfully to reduce the mass of this type of cancer.  After the mass of the cancer is reduced, the remaining mass might be surgically removed.

We do not have any preliminary results back on the PET scan which will be needed to verify that there is not any other organ involvement.  If there is no other organ involvement then successful treatment of the cancer is a real possibility.

Our next step is for Dr. Kassis to review the results of today's testing and to call us back in to develop the actual treatment plan for my cancer.  Dr. Walker felt that Dr. Kassis would be contacting us as early as Monday to set-up that appointment.

We all felt the information we received today was a very positive step forward and we felt good about the preliminary findings that were shared with us.

Take care and many blessings,
Ollie

We got a call from the James Cancer Center this afternoon. Ron's chemo will start on Thursday. It seems like it has taken forever to get this treatment started. The big hold up was that the insurance company would not approve to pay for one of the drugs to be used in the chemo and would not pay for an additional Pet Scan. They have filed an appeal and are waiting to hear from the insurance company. In the meantime, we are insisting that they get started with the treatments. We'll worry about how to pay for them later!!

Please keep us both in your prayers as we start this journey.

Many blessings,
Ollie

Ollie and Ron,
I have had such peace through this thing with my husband knowing God has us in the palm of His hand and cares for us in ways we don't even understand. The prayers of so many folk has been such a blessing to me.

I am praying you both will have that same peace, the peace that passes understanding--the peace He gives that the world can't take away, peace that allows your mind to rest in Him and let you sleep without worry, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Blessings,

Kathy

Just an update on my hubby, Ron. He has had 3 Chemo treatments and was scheduled for #4 on Thursday. That has been postponed. I took him to the ER at 10 last night. He was admitted at 3 AM with an "extensive" bloodclot in his leg. It goes from the groin to the middle of his calf. The treatment they have started him on seems to be helping, but we can always use your prayers.

Thanks,
Ollie

Lord,
Give the doctors wisdom in the best and healthiest way to get Ron back to the perfection which you created him.
In Jesus name,
Amen
