sauerkraut soup

Hi everyone,
I have a question for you. When I was a teen the neighbor lady not much older then I, already married with children had asked me over for dinner. She made sauerkraut soup. I didn't want to taste it at first but she convinced me it was good. Well it was yummy. It had sauerkraut juice and lots of mushrooms. At the end upon serving a egg was dropped in the soup to poach. I would love to have the recipe for this soup, Have any of you ever heard of it? If you have maybe you would share. Judie
