Are there any Marathon Runners doing LDL?

Post by Sneaky Snoopy »

I have been training for a half marathon for the past 4 month.  Just this last week I started LDL.  My question is to make it through 13 miles the runners in the office bulk up on pasta the night before.  Is there a LDL sultion to dinner that has been tried.

Snoopy,

My son use to race a few years ago before he had his motorcycle accident. He would load up on brown rice, beans, lentils, corn, peas the night before and then eat whole grain oatmeal for breakfast no sooner than two hours before the race. He's never been a pasta person.

Good Luck!

Thanks, This was very helpful. I am getting so excited about the half marathon this Sunday.  It will be my first long race.  The office is in such a buzz.  Half of the office is running for the Childrens Tumor Fondation in San Francisco.

Snoopy, do you live in SF? Also, I forgot to mention that brown rice isn't really acceptable on LDL due to the processing it has to go thru but black rice is considered an occasional item.

Yes, I live in the San Francisco area.  right off of the San Mateo bridge.  I did great on the race.  My pre race meal was:
B - Fruit

L - Chipotle
burrito bowl - rice, chicken, tomato salsa, cheese, guac and chips (very few)

D - fruit
Spaghetti and bread

I know there are a lot of no no in this but I made it through the race.  Now i can put all my efforts on LDL.  If you want to see my race route go to the journal page.  I put a link to it.  I did 13.1 miles in  3 hours and 13 min.  this was a personal record.  I feel a little stiff but the thrill of compleating something big is priceless! :D
I now look forward to a skinner me.  I have lost 6 lbs and that is solely because of LDL.

Congratulations, Snoopy!

Sounds like Clown Lady is right. You definitely need a hot stone body massage...they're my favorite. If you get a chance, try one.

I would imagine that bulking up with a variety of beans and corn would work, because of the carbs in both beans and corn, and that together they make a complete protein would help to.

Snoopy,

Do you know how long it takes to drive from SF to Weaverville? That's where my father lives and he wasn't sure how long it would take me to get there from the airport.

Coding Queen,
I not sure where Weaverville is.  I am going to look into the stone massage.  I can at least walk normaly today. :)

MOM,
My next 1/2 marathon I will do the beans and corn pre dinner.  But that will be next year.  I only plan one marathon per year.  and it was for a good cause.  I ran for the Childrens Tumor Foundation NF.  I raised $390.

That's great! I know they'll appreciate the money and I think anything that will benefit children is a good cause. I like to do things for the "March Of Dimes" but I don't think you'll see me running a marathon...at least not anytime soon.

Weaverville is near Redding about 50 miles south of the Oregon border.

Coding Queen,
To drive from the SFO to Weaverville it will take about 4 hours and 30 min.  give or take some.  Plus depending on the time of day traffic  and pit stops  .

Take the Bay bridge (I-80) towards I-5
