Replacement for Nuts ??

Post by ChrissyV »

I know there are no nuts aloud on LDL <- see, i am learning.. ;)
I was wondering if Chufa or Tigernuts are aloud ?
Chufa is not a nut, it's a root from somekind of grass.
I am trying to find something i can replace hazelnuts with...
*** i am praying that this will work, i want to make a cake**** *woot*

You might want to wait until the food police answer your question. But I can tell you that chufa taste like an almond crossed with a coconut.

The Tigernut (cyperus sculentus lativum) or 'Chufa' as it is known in Spanish, is not actually a nut, but a small tuber. It was first discovered 4000 years ago and comes in several sizes. Tigernuts have long been recognised for their health benefits, as they are high in fibre, proteins, and natural sugars I will put this here so Mary or someone else can police it
