Hi Joanna,

I hope you're feeling better today!  I suspect you will keep feeling better if you eat real foods instead of things that look like laboratory experiments when you read the labels.  Our bodies cope much better when they don't eat things which don't occur naturally in the world.

For example, I'm not sure what was in the sugar free syrup, but I'll bet it wasn't just fruit and water. And then, gulp!, you may wish to read the panels on your turkey bacon package.  :'(  Not trying to make you feel badly because logic says that "turkey bacon" MUST be a diet food, right?!  Nope.  Unless you had the Jenny-O "Extra Lean" turkey bacon, the bacon you had probably had almost as much fat as pork bacon, believe it or not.  Add to that (Jenny-O Extra Lean or NOT), those strips aren't real cuts of meat of course.  They're products full of mushed up stuff stuck together with emulsifyers, lots of sodium, usually added sugars, nitrates, and chemicals.  They're frequently high in saturated fat too.  Bleuch!  Once your body starts getting used to feeling good eating the healthy way, that stuff will just weigh you down and make you feel yucky...it'll sit like a rock in your stomach at best.  At worst, it will make you have cravings and raise your blood pressure.  I can't tell you how much my eyes have been opened by learning to eat foods the way God created them instead of eating all the laboratory artificial ingredients.

Today's a new day!  Keep away from those chemicals, and I'll bet you'll feel a heck of a lot better.  Enjoy your smoothie!

Best wishes to you,

Little Mary

Jsprik, I agree with you. I don't like any of the phony foods. I can't make myself like the Bills mashed pototoes or the phony pototo salad. To me none of it tatse  like the real thing. But I don't crave it and am ok not to pretend. So I don't make pertend foods. But if others like it it is fine with me.

New, but learning

I made creamed cauliflower just like I would cream potatoes and put a tablespoon of my husband's boxed mashed potatoes and that did the trick for me ;}  I hadn't read any of the recipes for mashed potatoes with the beans yet ;{ But be that as it may, I am converted to creamed cauliflower for my "POTHeATO" for life. I don't even want my husband to learn to like them. LOL He doesn't need to eat to lose and it is more for me to enjoy guilt free.

Next time instead of thickening with the highly processed mashed potato flakes, try puree-ing a can of Butter beans.
I have mixed mashed butter beans with cooked cauliflower and it tastes great! Probably better than plain mashed butter beans.
