"mashed potatoes"

Post by jsprik »

hubby , daughter and i tried the cauliflower /butter bean "mashed potatoes" tonight.  i was hoping to get on here and say they were great and we loved them, but alas, i cannot.  we didn't like them at all!!! :(  but that's ok, i haven't craved potatoes at all, so i guess i'm good!! =)

can anyone tell me if pure sugar cane is ok as an ingredient?? makes it sound like its not processed, but i'm not sure
what about raw sugar??

neither is mentioned in the book that i could find...thnx!!

have a blessed evening!!

No sugar of any kind is allowed.

I understand what you're saying about the mashed potatoes. I had the same experience with the hot pumpkin smoothie. Not good at all to me but everybody else thinks they're wonderful.

I didn't care too much for the butter beans mixed with cauliflower.  I did like the navy type beans mixed with cauliflower though.  I made it and had it one day with butter and a dab of sour cream.  Then the next day I made a chicken garlic gravy and put over it.  Today we ate the last of the potatoes with the gravy.

Wendy,
How did you make your chicken garlic gravy?
I think I may have made the mashed potatoes with the cannellini beans and cauliflower and was very tasty also.

I put the recipe on the boards when I first began with the whole meal.  Just real thru the instructions and it tells how to make the gravy.  I didn't make the roasted garlic though I just used minced.

Thanks Wendy,
Don't know how I missed this one. I may try it soon. I may make the gravy tomorrow.

Roger,
I think Wendy said she used the butter beans. They do have a stonger and more distinct flavor than the navy or Great Northern beans.

That is what I found with the butter beans.  I tried canned and I cooked my own to see if that would make a difference.  I much prefer the navy type beans because they are more mild in flavor.

we have been enjoying smoothies, turkey burgers, hamburgers, fresh fruit, lots of salad...good stuff, i am liking the menu, but the weight isnt coming off as quickly as i had hoped, but some loss is better than none i guess...=) i'm averaging about 1/2 lb a day so...

I know here in MN, they say butter beans on the main label - on the front.  Then when you look at the ingredients list..its says "prepared lima beans."  Maybe that's what the difference is.

I fixed butter beans from a can, and did not like the mashed potatoes, so I cooked butter beans, mashed them, or whipped them in my kitchen aide mixer.  They were fluffy and delicious.  I liked them better than regular mashed or whipped potatoes.  I used what I had left in potato cakes.  They were utterly delicious.  I dipped my fork in sour cream and then a bite.  I'm getting hungry for some more.  I will read the label on the canned butter beans.  I need to check to see what brand Roger recommends.  JF

I would be THRILLED to be loosing a 1/2 pound a day. My usual has been 1 lb a week and the most I have ever dropped is 2 lbs in one week, so you are doing fabulous! I know how anxious you are at the begining to loose a significant enough weight that everyone notices, but it will happen. Just keep eating and smile to yourself because in a few months your clothes will no longer fit and everyone will notice. Patience is so worth it.

i had read a few posts about the butter beans actually being lima beans, so i made sure to get large butter beans that were actually large butter beans...i think mary is right, we just don't care for them! =) not a big deal, like i said, i am not craving potatoes so i'm good. i am down 9 pounds in two weeks, which i am very thankful for, and having a better attitude about it!! =) hubby is down 12 pounds in two weeks, which i am very jealous of!!! hahahaha  and my daughter who needs to lose NO weight is holding steady and LOVING that she gets to eat popcorn for dinner sometimes!! and smoothies!! =) i would like to point out that, though i haven't seen a huge weight difference, i have lost TWO INCHES off my thighs!!!! hallelujah!!!! i knew i could see and feel a difference so i measured this morning!!! =)

keep up the good work, friends, and God Bless
God Bless you Roger for all you do
Joanna

Joanna,

One thing that LDL does is redistribute your weight so as you continue to lose weight not only will you continue to lose inches off your thighs but your entire body equalize itself.  I always carried most of my weight in my thighs and even when I lost weight on other "diets" I lost most of it in my upper body and still had to buy clothes to fit my thighs and then had problems finding things to fit my waist.  Now when I shop, my waist and thighs agree with each other and I don't have to compensate for either of them.

thnx for the encouragement everyone, it means so much!!! i think i may have made an error though, it was two inches off one thigh, so to be accurate, i think i should have said FOUR INCHES!!! (two off each one, lol) anyway, we made some pancakes out of soy flour and some "corn flour" (which was just finely ground corn) yesterday for breakfast with some turkey bacon.  we sprayed them with the icbinb spay and used sugar free syrup i don't know what it was , but i didn't feel good all day. i think it was too heavy or something??? i didnt have my smoothie like i usually do and i actually craved one for dinner, it was funny.  i craved it so much, i had what was left of my hubby's and made another for myself!!! =)  :inlove:

God Bless and have a great day!!
