Re: LDL Class and Bone Density
It is up to you to decide. But for me, even as a nurse I would never take it.

That's the drug I was writing about. I used ph instead of the f. Same sound.

I wouldn't take it. The drug has been known to cause atrial fibrillation...an abnormal heart rate that often causes strokes by throwing blood clots from the heart to the brain.

Thanks I don't need that in my life. I will just take my vitamins and continue to excerise. I was leaning towards that decision anyway.

Re: LDL Class and Bone Density
Wither, I hope you can find a more natural way to increase your bone density. I know the side effects are scarier than the reason you take the medicine!! I read or heard that some people had their jaw bone actually die from taking one of the meds for osteoporosis. CQ might know more about this. God bless you in your efforts to stay healthy and strong.

Re: LDL Class and Bone Density
Sorry to be the interloper here.........but with the talk about NCAA hoops......just had to put in my 2 cents. As you can tell by my name......our family is all about UK and really about UK basketball. Tonite is the Elite Eight game for us against UNC. Noticed some of you all were for Ohio St. It was a good game......but alas........we are now the only SEC school in the tournament. So.......Goooooooooo CATS!!!!! Two of our children and myself are alumni of UK.
Speaking of bone density. I don't like the phosphate based drugs......one----- if you can't lie down within a certain amount of time after taking them---seriously wrong and two-------they were taken out of our laundry detergents.......but we can ingest them........what's wrong with that picture? My gf is a pharmacist and has done extensive study in alternative meds........she advises alternatives to the Fosomax and drugs like it.......big into calcium--magnesium--and "D" to help with affects from osteo problems. The phosphate supposedly only slows down the process......doesn't really grow bone. CQ---you probably know about this more than I do. I, for one, will not ever take Fosomax or anything like it...........but then.......I am one of the lucky ones right now and don't have any bone density problems.
Gooooooooooooooooo CATS! (sorry---couldn't help myself

Crickadoodle,
This is probably where you read it.
http://www.webmd.com/osteoporosis/news/ ... bone-death
Or maybe you read it at the one below...that is where I found out about the atrial fib.
ukgrad77,
This article explains how the phosphonate actually affects our bodies.

UKgrad -- you go on and get excited for your team. When LSU is doing good in football, I definitely get excited!! Funny -- when I first read posts by you I just saw the UK and was thinking you were from Great Britain -- then it hit me you were from Kentucky!!
Quite a change in accent as I read your posts!!

Re: LDL Class and Bone Density
CQ -- I hadn't read that, but that was what I was talking about. I heard about it somewhere. Thanks for posting. The more I read about things, the more I want to stay away from doctors!! We are trying some homeopathic stuff for Mom now. We had the remote feedback hand cradle test done and she has had different drops and herbs prescribed to help her dementia. I'm not seeing too much improvement yet, but I'm giving it some time. We took a little trip to Texas last week and just being out of the house, I found her much more alert ---- so I see I need to get her out of the house more. I'm going to have to check out our local senior citizen's place. I'm thinking she will know people who go there and that will help her have some interaction with others besides me.

Wither, just keep exercising (am getting my treadmill as soon as I make room for it!) and keep your calcium intake up, don't forget the vitamin D3 ,too.
Off-topic, have you ever been to one of my favorite shops in San Diego-see below- beautiful things. This is the way I decorate, Paris Apartment with antiques; I love this lovely shop.
Don't forget to click on the french song- my favorite, too.

Re: LDL Class and Bone Density
Go Cats!!! We love KY. Many of my family were cheering for UK. Country Girl took classes from there, but graduated from Georgetown. My cousin used UK blue in her wedding. I think the games have been unusual and good. I try not to miss any. There is no first or 2ND seats left in the final four. That goes to prove the old saying, "On any given day, a team can win or loose." or something like that!!!

Re: LDL Class and Bone Density
Crickadoodle.......too funny! I had a banner made when our youngest son graduated from HS and was going to put "UK Bound" on it........but I asked the man who took my order what he thought of when he saw the "UK" and he said United Kingdom..........so University of Kentucky bound went on it instead.....yes mam.......different accent altogether---:) My good friend is a LSU alumni......we enjoy the friendly SEC banter during football and basketball season......it's always fun. Living in Big Ten country is tough.......let me tell ya!
CQ........thank you for sharing the article. I passed it along to another friend who was on stupid Fosomax........she is a good soldier to her DR-----and follows his orders----she doesn't take the time to self educate-----something we all need to do these days.
And so with that............Gooooooooooooooo CATS!
Fondly....UKgrad77

Re: LDL Class and Bone Density
I ALWAYS READ UP ON ALL THE MEDS I AM GIVEN AND THEN DECIDE IF I AM GOING TO TAKE IT.
