Grits etc.

Post by celogan »

Hello:
I'm Chris.
My wife just started this and I really want to support her, and so I'll be here time to time until she gets comfortable enough to come on board herself.. Anyway...

What about Grits?? Grits are made from ground hominy (a type of white corn) They're not bad when eaten with fried eggs. Are Grits "allowed" in this diet/plan? why or why not.

Now for the "Etc." Part:

Why are whole grains, such as Brown Rice or Whole Wheat not allowed (or are they under certain circumstances)? If they are as unprocesses as possible, seems to me, as long as you didn't start eating lots of sandwiches or load them up with unhealthy things such as refined sugar as you might find in jam and jelly, or add pork to the brown rice, as one might be tempted to do making a "fried rice" (in olive oil of course" it seems that it should be fine. So why isn't it?

What about eating eggs in the morning with or without anything, since eggs are a "protein" does that limit when you can have eggs?

Thanks!

By the way...
Here's a recepie you might like that I got from one of our chefs in one of our restaurants at the casino I work in. I think it fits into your diet plan, and it's very tasty.

Tilapia Scampi (Tilapia is a white fish that most likely was the fish Jesus ate most often)

Saute some fresh minced or chopped garlic in enough Olive Oil to cover the bottom of the pan and cook slightly, add the Tilapia Filets and cover with white wine and about a tablespoon of allowed margarine or butter substitute (you can do it without the margarine or butter but it's better with) and a pinch of salt. Cook until liquid is reduced to half, add parsley, turn off and your done. Enjoy.. Its really pretty tastey.
