My Christmas Dinner/Lunch

Had my Christmas dinner/lunch today. Had turkey breast, Bill's Garlic Mashed Potatoes, 4 Bean Salad, cranberry/orange relish. Everything was so delicious and I'm so stuffed that I couldn't eat any of the crustless pumpkin pie or fruit salad. Guess I'll have those right before I go to candlelight service tonight. By the way, I'd never made Bill's mashed potatoes before, just didn't think I'd like them. Boy, was I ever wrong!! They're delicious.  :kissed:

What is everyone else having for your Christmas dinner?

We did not do much for Thanksgiving, so now DH wants a Turkey. We are using Gordon Robertson's brine marinade and will get the turkey in the brine shortly and then fire up the charcoal grill early in the morning to cook the turkey. I will also be making cornbread dtressing. Since DH is near goal he wants pies, so I will just have a bite of the filling. I may make Wendy's butterscotch/pumpkin custard tomorrow. There were no pumpkin pies in the stores I went to last night so guess I will have to make one for DH.

Since I have laid off the bananas, I have lost the pound I gained last week so I am taking it easy on the Christmas fixin's since I want a maintain or better yet another loss come Monday.

I am having my whole family over. Having Garlic crustic standing rib roast, Real Mashed pototoes, broc with cheese sauce. Salad with olives and fetta cheese. Blueberry cheese cake for dessert. I am going to be careful I don't overdo it. Don't want to gain. But will enjoy every bite. Merry christmas everyone.

WOW! what a terrible time to have to have such issues, and with company no less  Does the top of your stove work? Or maybe get something in a crockpot in a hurry.Christmas soup sounds good to me,or maybe you have a wonderful neighbor that has alittle extra room in their oven, either way you will surely have these memories, good laughs and still be with friends and family, that's what it's about, and also lots of goodies to eat, which you guys just won't have, lol!
Hugzzzz
Merry Christmas

Oh poor Roger!  I know exactly how he feels. A few years ago I was preparing Christmas dinner and I had a glass top range. Well something fell on top of range and shattered it. What a mess. So I got out electric pots and little hot plates and thats how Christmas dinner came together that year. It was good anyway. I hope you had a wonderful day.

I did what Witheraway did - ate everything! My husband gave me a box of Malley's chocolate's for Christmas and I ate half the box. I went right back to pure LDL this morning and I just keep thinking about that half box of chocolate. Can I do this? I don't know if I can be strong! I just had a pumpkin smoothie hoping that will take away that craving for the other half box!! I hope all had a Merry Christmas! Looking forward to a great New Year!!

Wrap the box in foil and freeze it. It will be good for 6 mos. You want want it if it's froze. I have lots of candy froze in my freezer. I can leave it alone and you can serve when you have company.

Jen, the question is "to waste or to waist?"  Which will it be?  Sometimes for me it is more about not wasting stuff.  Eating the holiday food for one meal isn't bad, it is when you continue to eat the leftovers for days afterward that gets you.  *lipssealed*

 Just 2nding what RT said...Eat LOTS and LOTS of fresh/frozen fruit/fruit smoothies/LDL pies & cobblers (the kind made with just mushed up bananas, fruit and cinnamon).  It REALLY works for getting rid of the cravings!

I guess I must be the odd one out!!!  I eat tons of good foods, plenty of fruits and veggies, and I am not tempted with the other goodies.  And goodies there are--pecan pies, cho. covered peanuts, triple cho cake, apple and peach pies., cho candy.  On other diets where I was limited, I always snitched and was usually still hungry. Thanks to LDL, I have been set free.  I got on the scales this morning, and I was at my lowest weight.  I enjoy those small tops, size 6 and 8 bottoms.  It is a choice.  I love LDL eating.  I have added several things back---homemade fried mush is one.  It doesn't cause weight gain.  It is so good.  Another friend on LDL brought me a bar of it.  Half is gone.  It is made of corn meal.  I did enjoy peanuts in the shell.  I fix delicious cream puddings that everyone enjoys, but are LDL friendly once in a while dessert.    Crick, have you read about how unhealthy the baby carrots are?  They say the large carrots are the best.  I guess the little carrots are dipped in  chlorine so that's why they turn white after keeping them a while in the frig.  I still use them, but I don't get all excited about things like that.  I think we have to enjoy some things whether healthy or not.  That's why I still use my micro and still use splenda.  I did order Kav--it is absolutely wonderful  for my two cups of daily hot tea.  Thanks for recommending it.  I will probably never return to regular salt, because I like the benefits of H. salt.  HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL. :D JF
