Did LDL today

ate around 1450 calories.  TONS of carbs...too many to count.  If you read my last posting you'll know I have been on low carb for many months and lost a good deal of weight.

Today, I ate...

- 5 cups of 3 bean salad(no splenda or sweetener)...just beans, onion, 1/3 cup olive oil, can of corn, and vinegar.
- an apple for a snack
- 1 cup of 3 bean salad
- 2 bowls of taco soup
- an orange
- 5 ounces of dry white sauvignon blanc wine.  (i make my own wines).

While wine isn't necessarily part of LDL, I am at the point where I can drink a glass with my dinner.

I did 45 minutes of cardio at 5.1 mph then lifted weights for about 40 minutes.  I had lifted weights after eating the 3 bean salad...as that was my pre-workout snack.  I felt pretty good after running and lifting.  Shoveled snow after that.  That's the lowest amount of calories I've eaten in many months I think.  My normal caloric intake is around 2,000 calories on low carb.  It was very nice to have the bean salad, an orange, and the apple.  It felt like a complete treat.  I've not had popcorn in a long while.  I think that would be nice to have sometime this week.  I am thinking I may gain some pounds tomorrow.  I'll hit the scale and see.  I know Roger says to not hit the scale but it is a habit.  If I don't lose, or stay the same I'll be shocked.

Really, Javabean, I think you should stay off the scales.  Your body will take a couple of weeks to adapt to the conversion from low-carb to LDL.  You are setting yourself up for disappointment if you weigh this early in the game.  Roger has said many times that no one has ever done LDL as written and not lost all the weight he or she wanted.  It does work and will work for you, but, please, give your body time to make the transition before you peek at the scales.  :)!  Pam

I have made some wonderful wines to be sure.  I recently made a chocolate raspberry port that is very decadent.  I have not indulged in it yet, other than tastings.  No one doing LDL would want to I think.  As a port, it is sweet and fortified.  An after dinner sipper.  Maybe I will take one day next Christmas and indulge in a glass. It might be ready then.  I'd blow up if I were to indulge much in that.  Most of my wines are reds, blackberries, raspberry, and a few incidental ones where either I had leftover fruits from the orchard or garden.

I want to know exactly what goes into my body.  So, I count everything...fat, calories, carbs, etc.  I also track the nutritional values of foods I eat so that I can adjust supplements such as vitamins and minerals.

First of all, send some white wine my way.  Pretty Please!   *love*

Now, while I'm sipping some sauvingnon blanc with you without literally being with you, I would love to have a few minutes to talk with you. I know what you are going through!!!!  The things you have been led to believe aren't necessarily true---and let's be honest, if you hear it enough you think it's true---but they aren't healthy.  For real!  First of all, honestly!!!! Stop COUNTING CARBS AND CALORIES!!!!!  STOP NOW!  Do not, I repeat, do NOT compare your worth to the value on the scale tomorrow.  PLEASE!  Honestly, put the scale away for 4 -6 weeks. We don't need to count calories here.  You will feel sweet release from that pressure. You know why Roger says no?  Because it's not a true judge on a day-to-day  basis.  I am totally honest that I was at a point that I weighed myself every day at least twice a day.  It's not the anwer.  It consumes you and confuses you at the same time.  Here is what I know to be true, after many years of my own success on these boards as well as consulting some "famous" doctors and nutritionists to get the right eating habits for my family.  They're mainly all the same.  #1-= Eat as much of whatever  vegetables you want to eat.  The ones with color---dark green leafy veggies, rich red and orange color veggies are best. And Legumes!!!!  They're so important! 2-  After the veggies, the next most imporatant is fresh fruits.  Eat as much as you like, as long as they're no sugar added real fruits.  All of them!  #3- After that, comes lean meat and fish and eggs. #4 comes all the other garbage that most people eat like rice and starch etc.

I wouldn't know my calorie intake from my cardio mpg or my anything else, hun.  What I DO KNOW is that I was bursting out of my size 12's 7 years ago, and then I found this great way of eating, and I lost all the weight I wanted to, and its stayed off all these years.  I'm usually a size 4 these days.  Please don't be a slave to the scale.

Don't count your carbs, just be thanful!

Best,

Little Mary

I know how you feel.  It was very difficult for me to stop weighing every morning.  I am hypothyroid and can gain very quickly.  I now weigh every 2-4 weeks.  I have been eating LDL since October and the weight keeps coming off and I love how I feel and what I eat.  I love that I do not have to measure, weigh and count my food.  I want to get on with my life.  It will be a difficult habit to break but I did and feel so much better.  There are blood tests that you can take to make sure your levels are where they should be.  We can do anything when we set our minds to it.  If you choose to, this will change your life forever.  I wish you all the best and Happy LDL!

Welcome, Javabean!  I never had a problem with weighing myself daily.  I sort of like the way you think.  You sound a little bit like me in that you seem to like the experimenting and finding out what is happening with your body.  I liked seeing how my body did when I ate different ways.  I felt like popcorn caused me to gain weight or, at least, not lose as fast.  I weighed daily because it kept me on track.  I lost 50 lbs. in 6 months and stayed focused until I reached 10 lbs. below my goal.  Truly, I don't think I'd have had the success I did if I would have weighed once a month, as is suggested.  I have a feeling that I'd have really overdone the popcorn and then I wouldn't have lost nearly as much as I did.  I possibly would have even gained, and if that had happened, I would not have stuck with LDL.  That would have been a shame, because I know that my success has led to a mini revolution in my area.  Others have seen my success and have joined me.  Then some people who saw me lose weren't as impressed with my loss as with a friend of mine who had more to lose and had a life long weight problem.  Some who didn't join me, were convinced by her success -- and she started because of learning about it from me.  It has amazed me and encouraged me as just a person as to how my finding LDL ended up being a big blessing to so many others.  I have been blessed to know that my little life can make a big difference in others' lives.  I really think all that wouldn't have happened if I hadn't weighed myself more often.  So, I never discourage people from weighing as long as they are encouraged.  I'd say, if it encourages you -- weigh.  If you are easily discouraged by some little fluctuations in gain/loss -- then don't weigh.  It undermines your success to weigh, in that case.  I think the choice to weigh daily, weekly or monthly would vary with the person.  Also, there are days that I know that I shouldn't weigh, because it'll affect me in a negative way.

Crickadoodle, Congratulations!  You are such a success with this!   I use to weigh myself daily but I am one of those that weight could vary so much and I would get so frustrated.  It would make me eat less instead of eating more food which in turn kept my thyroid medication a total mess, going back and forth between hyper and hypo.  As I have had more weight loss and my body adjusting, my medication keeps getting lowered without any setbacks which is a very big deal for me.  I weighed myself everyday in the beginning of LDL but once I was comfortable with it, I stopped weighing everyday.  I no longer have to record my daily food as I did in the beginning to find out how my body was adjusting and what I could change to improve, although I would if I did not keep seeing improvements.  We all have to find our way and what works for each of us and it does take documenting and experimentation.    LDL has truly been a blessing in my life and I especially don't miss the "old" mine sets and ways.  This is total freedom and something I never thought could happen to me!  :D

MLFH, Total food freedom with LDL.  We do have to find our own method.  I weighed weekly--stalled for three weeks right after I started back on exercise.  The folks on the boards helped me work through that problem.  I've lost 60 lbs, and down from 18 Levi to size 8 and size 16 suit to size 6.  I even bought one size 4 in a Koret.  I think it must have run large. On other ways of eating, I would have cheated, but I have no reason to do so on LDL.  Keeping the weight off has been very easy.  On other diets, I could lose and then gain back.  Praises to God for LDL.

Mylifeforhim -- such good news!  You've been able to lower your meds over time.  I think that is a goal for everyone.  My mom was on so much medicine at one time, I wish I'd have known more back then to help her get off most of it sooner.  I think it really affects you -- it did her.  I know that some are needed, but many are given to help people with symptoms they'd get over with proper diet and exercise.  Then they never get off of them!  It affects muscle strength and such.  So sad to see the condition you can be in -- not just caused by old age.

Well, I'm so happy for you!

Wanda -- God has been so good to us to show us the LDL way.  So glad I met you in San Antonio!  Wow, you lost 60 lbs. in all!  I didn't remember that.  That is awesome.

JF, how awesome!  Congratulations!    :rose:    I love to hear such success stories and I love to hear how it has worked and is working for everyone.  I thank God for LDL, too!

Thanks, Crickadoodle!  My mom takes 17+ medicines a day and yesterday had gastric bypass surgery which really is for people that can't control overeating when hers is the food choices she makes.  What I saw in my family I did not want to be and that is why I am soooooooooo gratefull to find LDL and all of you!  I know what you mean it is like I want to tell the whole world what is possible to stop problems that can be corrected with a few changes like LDL and exercise.
