Does anyone have any favorite LDL approved menu selections from Cracker Barrell.  My DH and I went to Cracker Barrell last weekend and I wasn't sure what I could order that would work with LDL, so I ordered Lemon Pepper Rainbow Trout, veggies and salad, which was very good, but I wondered what are some other good things to order there that are LDL approved.  Jerrie :)

Before LDL I used to get the fried chicken salad.
Would bet you could get that huge chef's salad with grilled instead of breaded chicken if you asked.
You can also get a veggie plate.....just leave off the mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni and cheese!

In the Red Book (page 80) Roger said he "orders an omelet without cheese but with veggies in the middle and tomatoes on the side, and I ate salsa on the top. Or I ordered scrambled eggs and asked that they prepare them in a pan with olive oil."

When I go to the cracker barrel I get the grilled chicken strips.  I think you get three and they are seasoned.  Then you get two or three sides.  I always get the pinto beans(eat around the pork), green salad and corn.
I used to get the chef salad which I love but was always up the next day so quit ordering it.

Thanks everyone.  Those are all great ideas for Cracker Barrell for the next time I go.  Also, I forgot about Roger's recommendation in his book.  That's a great idea too.  Jerrie  :)

I LOVE the spicy grilled catfish!  YUM!  I get turnip greens, carrots and pinto beans as my sides.  And of course NO bread or biscuits.

Jerrie- The hardest place to eat is a pizza joint.  In a pinch, most of them have a salad or salad bar, then you can go home and fill up on the good stuff!  One place we went to with a group advertised that they had "the best pizza sauce in the world."  I, of course, was curious.  They microwaved the vegetables that would have been in a veggie sub and gave me a portion of the pizza/spaghetti sauce.  My curiosity was satisfied, I enjoyed the sauce although it probably had a small amount of sugar, and I felt good about my decision.  I also was able to agree that it was one of the best sauces I had ever eaten.  It gets easier and easier the longer I have been on LDL!  If in doubt about the menu, take a couple pieces of fresh fruit and a few corn thins.  It's all about being prepared!  Pam

I like to get the grilled sirloin steak with three sides....usually pinto beans, turnip greens and green beans. If I'm really hungry I'll also get some corn and/or carrots. Or, I'll get a side salad (I bring my own dressing).
