A new twist on fruit salad

I like to make Roger's fruit salad, with cantelope, honeydew melons, apples and grapes (since these things don't get mushy right away in the fridge). I like to add a little ginger and lemon juice. If the melons are not particularly sweet, I also add a touch of stevia. The lemon juice and ginger give the fruit salad a whole new taste that is so good. A year or so ago my daughter and I were at Schnucks Store and they have a little booth there where someone makes recipes from the Schnucks Cooks recipe magazine, and they give out samples of their recipes there. One day they were giving out samples of a fruit salad, along with other recipes, and the fruit salad had ginger and lemon juice in it and it was soooooo good. I was reallly surprised at the nice flavors the ginger and lemon juice added to to the fruit salad and, so I frequently add that to my fruit salad. I have been using the ginger in the tube for convenience, but I'm sure fresh ginger would work just as well.
Just thought I would post this in case anyone wanted to change up their fruit salad a little bit. I think you'd really like it.

That is a great idea...I put cinnamon on every kind of fruit and microwave it...but I think it's time for a bit of a change. I'm not sure about health benefits of ginger as compared to cinnamon...anybody know? Lisa

Ginger is great for the stomach......hence Ginger Ale as a remedy for stomach upset.
Ginger has other wonderful health benefits, just can't remember them all off hand.
I am sure you could use cinnamon and ginger.

I also notice that tprouty posted a recipe for making you own ginger ale, with ginger, sparkling water or club soda and sweetner. I'm not sure of the exact recipe, but I bookmarked it to make later, as I thought that sounded kinda cool to make your own ginger ale. I would put the link here, but I don't think I know how to do that. Jerrie

Jerrie,
When I am searching or preparing to post links etc in a reply, I open another LDL tab in the explorer to LDL and then do the search in the second tab. Once I am on the page I want to show the link to, I copy the http address in the explorer address bar, click on the other tab where the reply window is open and paste the link in the reply. You can always preview your reply to make sure the link turns blue meaning it will work by clicking on it. Hope this helps.

I found another great ginger seasoning. I picked up some Braggs Ginger and Sesame Salad Dressing. I have used it on fruit and even cooked it into stirfry for flavor. Out of 9 organic ingredients the sesame seeds are #8 so I figured it would be OK for occasional use.

Thanks LindaRN for the info on Braggs salad dressing. I'll have to look for it. I like using their apple cider vinegar and I buy their liquid aminos. I thought it was supposed to be a good replacement for soy sauce, but I don't really know how to use it and always forget about it. Do you have their liquid aminos? If so, what do you use them in? I did not buy the Braggs Liquid Aminos. I bought the Coconut Sauce instead.
But I saw the salad dressing on the same shelf and the ingredients were so good I had to try it.
I use it iver salads, etc and I have also added it to veggies or meat when cooking.
I am sure it might make a winderful marinade but I am not that good at thinking/preparing ahead.
I use the coconut sauce also in soups and to flavor meats or veggies.
