We CAN Overcome Struggles!

Ran across this quote from Joyce Meyer:
Making Healthy Choices
"Learn to do everything you do for God's glory, including eating. Look at your dinner plate and ask if what you are about to eat is mostly what God created for you. Don't view eating as a secular event that has nothing to do with your relationship with God. Don't forget that God put Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and told them what they could eat. If eating had nothing to do with their walk with Him, He probably would not have mentioned food. Make good choices! Each time you choose good healthy foods, you are choosing life, which is God's gift to you. He wants you to look great and feel great, and you can, if you keep in mind that your body is the temple of God and the fuel you put into it determines how it will operate and for how long."
Crickadoodle said something that stuck with me too: "I ask myself if I want to eat [...] more than I want to be thin."

Gwen
Thanks for the quote and good advice. We can do it if our mind is right.

One quote that stuck with me through my other weight loss plans that I've tried (and failed) in the past was:
"Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels."That didn't help much when the pizza and bread cravings hit, however.

That is probably the most amazing blessing that I've experienced since starting LDL - all those old cravings are
G O N E.... since I can eat so much other good stuff that fills me up and eliminates those cravings - the above quote actually has some meaning to me now.

The coolest thing of all is that with Let's Do Lunch, once those cravings are dealt with, it really is a free will choice. Do you want to be healthy and slender and fit, or do you want to tickle your taste buds? Food no longer has that hold on you once the cravings are gone. You can still use your hand to put bad food in your mouth, but the power of the cravings is gone and you don't feel like you have to put that bad food in your mouth. For me, anyway, losing the weight was finally made easy with LDL. It was always such a struggle before.
I've been walking in this new body of mine for several months, and I think I'm almost forgetting what it was like before. That is how complete this victory over cravings is! Thank you, Jesus, for giving someone like Roger this plan. He has freely shared it with us and hasn't used it for personal gain of any kind. Now, I feel compelled to do the same --- share it with anyone who wants to hear about this wonderful way of eating and being set free from the hold food can have over a person.

Yep, Crickie, you nailed it. It's almost like I have
willpower now, for the first time ever. I would have never even conceived of eating "just fruit" for dinner as recently as a couple of months ago, but now... it is a liberating feeling.

EXACTLY, Hork. My tastebuds were SOOO much stronger than my WON'Tpower. That saying didn't have a chance against a major binge, and only resulted in making me feel sick and guilty every time I failed. Besides, how would I even know WHAT being thin feels like?
Now that the Lord has taken away my cravings with Let's Do Lunch, He has blessed me with a measure of personal control that I didn't have before. He has reminded me that He has given me a CHOICE whether to eat something fattening, or to choose to be thin. That's why I think Crick's version of the saying worked better for me.
ROFL -- I just realized I said EXACTLY what Crickadoodle had just said, only rephrased a bit.

Apparently it sounded really good to me! ! ! It's like she had a mirror up to my soul when she said,
"I ask myself if I want to eat [...] more than I want to be thin."
.
This may be one of the foundational truths of Let's Do Lunch that each of us has to experience on our own before we "GET IT." Maybe it's like the miracle of salvation - you can't begin to understand its power until it happens to you. I hope I don't get struck by lightening for making this comparison, because nothing could possibly be more important to our
spirits than what Jesus did for us. But I believe food is the most important thing to our
physical bodies, and the fact that He has given us this tool to keep the temple clean is a great blessing.

Oh, Gwen, I've used that comparison before myself, because it is the nearest thing I can compare it to. Sin has such power over us before the blood of Jesus sets us free from the power of sin. I really have felt that LDL has done that for me with food. Food had such power over me, but once the cravings have been broken, food no longer has that power over me. I was in such a struggle before and I had literally given up on ever being thin again. It was about a year ago that I surrendered to the "fact" (I thought) that I was just going to stay overweight. Nothing was working and I had lots of "won't" power as you so cleverly said. I ordered some clothes on line in the new dreaded size -- like you can't imagine how much it took for me to admit that was my size -- and when the clothes came in, some were too tight! Oh, how miserable I felt. Shortly after this experience I found the article in First magazine that I almost ignored, because it made such outlandish claims on the cover. So glad I read the article anyway, because something made me go to get the book. There was one copy in our local Books-a-million and I actually hunted it down. I went book by book in the diet books section until I uncovered that book. (I never can understand how they put books on the shelf there -- couldn't find it by the title or the author's last name.) I began right away and now here I am today in victory over what I'd surrendered to. I guess that is like salvation too. We have to come to the end of ourselves and totally give up trying to save ourselves. I couldn't do it no matter how hard I tried. Only Jesus could save me from my sins and the power of the sin nature. Now, that I have no more cravings for the bad food, it is so easy to stay slim. The power of the cravings has been broken.
I'm thinking that this is why it appears so many people of faith have found so much success with LDL. Not that others haven't found success too, it just seems that there are lots of people who love the Lord on these boards. I just think there is something in us that sees and appreciates the miracle of having power over our cravings. We like relate to it at this deep level. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I see it.

Amen, Amen!!! Great message, Crick. Free from sin and free from food. Both still there, but we have the tools for control. Praises to our Savior.

Thank you for this post!! I really needed to read it today. I am having a very difficult time overcoming my cravings - all I want to do is sleep and eat!! I desperately need to get back on track and I think when you attach the spiritual connection of food and cravings it really helps!
