Scared to death
Roger and Mary I'm afraid, no terrified, this is not working for me, and in my heart, I did believe, with God's help, this would be IT for me. I have been strict on your plan for two months, that's 8 weeks, that's a long long time. I walk on my lunch hour and at night for about 2 miles. On Saturday I thought it was time enough to go clothes shopping, and I was quite excited. I hadn't weighted myself yet; I know I'm fat and I know when my clothes fit better; afterall, I've been doing this for a long time. I thought certainly clothes would fit me better now. It was horrible; I tell I could have sat and cried all day. had it not been for company, I would have. I believe I have done everything correctly; if I lost maybe 2 even 3 pounds, it's a lot. I have given up so much, just unbelievable what I was able to do but not to lose weight........how could this be? People say..oh I gave up soda and I lost 10 pounds...I've given up everything...everything I like..........I am so depressed. Would you consider advising me to STILL keep with it? Certainly 2 months is time enough? Losing , maybe, 2 pounds every 8 weeks, I am sure you agree, is not a successful plan. I wish I had better news; I prayed for better news for you. I'm confused, upset, and sad. I did already send you what I was eating and you said it was fine; you said I was doing well...........I don't want to lose our connection...............my eyes are filling up again..I must go; I'm just so so sad.

Re: Scared to death
carleen.....for every person that writes in that they lost weight really fast in huge amounts, there are 10 people who read it,who don't...i'm going to be 54 in july...i have an underactive thyroid(maybe you should consider having your thyroid tested...before i went on medication,i maintained my weight when i dieted and gained weight when i ate normally) ...i don't lose weight easily...i probably lost about ten pounds in the first month or so,but a lot of that was probably fluid...i'm probably losing a couple of pounds a month now....but,i feel so much better eating this way...i intend to eat this way forever...so wether i lose it slowly or not,i think i'm going to do it.....sure,there are plenty of people that are huge eaters and are thin or lose weight easily...i had a grandmother who looked like granny from the beverly hillbillies...she ate like a horse and never gained any weight....but,what can i do but do the best i can with what God has given me for as long as i'm on this planet?..i have never been able to stay on ANY diet as long as this...and i went off it this past weekend and went right back on......i've never done that.....once i went off a diet,it took me MONTHS to get back on..and before this i was off a diet more than i was on......i thank God that i can get up every morning..i look for all the blessings and i name them as i pray...it's how i've survived a lot of adversity....don't deprive yourself of the things you're allowed to eat on ldl....roger is ready(as we all are)to give you whatever help and encouragement you need...mary's got loads of recipes that you can try,to treat yourself and give yourself variety....we're all in this together..we've all been there....and in the Lord,we're a family even if we're on opposite ends of the world.....so hang in there...you can do it...niki

Re: Scared to death
Sorry to hear of your frustrations with this diet. Try to not be scared to death over a diet. While I haven't found great success other than candy and pizza cravings gone, I will try it out a good while longer...mainly because I have not gained, have lost some, and seem to enjoy eating like this for now.
I am very strict LDL and in the past 3 weeks I have lost 10 pounds and gained 3 back So, a total of 7 pounds down over 3 weeks. With other diets I can lose 10 in about a week. Likely, most of any first 10 pounds is water weight, though. I definitely don't feel my clothes are fitting any better either.
For starters, you are doing some VERY positive things. Walking like you are is great. Maybe you are building some muscle, too. Muscle weighs more than fat for sure. Were you walking before you started LDL?
I would say that if you have not lost any weight in 2 months, and your clothes are not fitting any better, then something is not working. Two months seems a reasonable time from my dietary experiences. What about quantities of food? That could very well be a factor in weight loss. What have you been eating? I know you said you have been strict on plan. Maybe others could give advice on that, too? Would you post typical menus?
I hope that you find something to tweak here and that LDL works for you. Do you like eating on LDL? If so, then continue on it. It wouldn't cost you anything I think. Just see where it takes you for a while longer.

Re: Scared to death
Dear Carleen,
I too have had some difficulties. I am not losing weight as fast as I would like to either. But....I feel great!!! My family is eating better as a whole and I am sticking with it. I don't know how long it took you to gain to your present weight, but I bet it wasn't eight weeks. It took me 10 years to get to the weight I am presently. If it takes me a year or so to lose it, well so be it. Every pound down is a success. But so is a normal blood pressure, great cholesterol profile and energy to burn. This to me is a way of eating, not a diet. Therefore, I do not plan on returning to my former way of eating no matter what.
Good luck to you and God Bless,
Patinla
