Book Club

This is a little informal book club.  The book of choice is LDL red cover.  I am going to go one chapter at a time.  I read slow so I am going to give it 2 weeks per chapter.  This is so I have pleanty of time to read and re-read each chapter.  All are welcome.

I hope you have as much fun with this as I do.  Lets get Reading.

Are we having discussions chapter by chapter?  What we liked, didn't like or how we understood what was written to mean?

Could be interesting.  I just reread the book just a month ago but another reading can't hurt.

SS,
This is a great idea! Please count me in.
Have we already started? And which chapter are we doing first? (  :rolleyes: I know that can be construed to be a "dumb" question, but I bet other inquiring minds want to know, too.)
I don't know about you other LDL'ers, but in my personal copy I have added notes, brackets, stars, underlines, arrows, check marks and page references to the text portions where I want to pay particular attention in my re-reading.  :shocked:

{This is my book and I don't intend to ever be without it! So the added marks and writing are not illegal!  :cool: }

In the recipe section I have annotated the additions (all LDL ones, of course  :sideways: ) I've made to recipes, plus have written the relevant numbers to increase a recipe, i.e. to double or triple the amount. Also different combinations of herbs/spices and their amounts.

For instance, I recently made a double recipe of a carrot soup with beans and fresh cilantro. What I did was omitted the cilantro and added both red and hot curry powder and Garam Masala. It was delicious. That one's not  from the book, but I made those changes in my computer LDL recipe file.

I have just about always read my own personal copies of books/textbooks with a pen or pencil in hand.....If there's a particular sentence or saying that I want to add later to my computer quotations files, I put "Quote" in the margin, put quotation marks around the saying, and underline that passage.

{Disclaimer: As my DS says, "Everyone needs a hobby." Seems like I'm coming clean about this one habit/hobby of mine!  :D  }

Happy reading, y'all!

So'Yankee,
Loved your disertaion about how to rightly divide the truth! I gave away my book to Gary's doctor, so I am going to have to order another and start marking it up so I won't give it away. Kinda was waiting for the new addition, though.

I have some newbies here where I live and I always tell them the key secert to LDL is reading the book and rereading the book monthly to stay focused.
RT  I do tell everyone to order from the web site I don't even give them an option.  For the ones in question I tell them to go look at the book at the library and then buy one.  Messigardner looked at mine at the farmers market and the went to the web site.
RT thanks for all you do for all of us

The Red Book has been updated?  What, What, When????

(I keeping my LDL Red Book on my kitchen table to read while I eat.  It sort of slows me down.  One of my problems is that I eat too fast)
