Inflammation and fat connection -- interesting link

Post by crickadoodle »

I read an article yesterday about inflammation that was very interesting.    Here is the link for anyone interested in it:

http://www.metabolismadvice.com/anti_inflammatory_food/

It went into how being overweight in itself causes inflammation.  It made sense to me having experienced the change that losing 50 lbs. made in how I feel in my body.  The doctor said my mom's blood test showed inflammation (but she doesn't have a weight problem).  I looked it up to see what foods were good for this.  There are many foods that are anti-inflammatory, so I'm feeding Mom more of them to help with this problem.

Anyway, I was remembering how I felt when I was 50 lbs. heavier.  Fat causes inflammation, it seems, and now that I am slender, I feel so much better.  Those of you who feel that you've been wavering in your commitment to eating the LDL way, let me encourage you to be faithful to the plan.  Your life will be so much better.  You'll enjoy it more and be more able to do things.  You'll have more confidence.  I hated shopping so much, and though I can't say I love shopping now, I can say that it isn't the unpleasant experience it once was.  I can fit in just about everything I try on and it looks nice too.  Not having those extra lumps and bumps in the wrong places really makes clothes fit nicely.  ;)

Interesting article.  My joint and muscle pain has dramatically decreased since I started LDL.  I've been able to decrease my pain meds and reverse sleep apnea.  Thanks for posting this Crickadoodle, and for all the encouragement you give us!

Crickadoodle,

This is a list of foods that we should avoid that cause inflammation. They are not LDL approved except for the fruit juice (hey, I don't use that much in my smoothies) and popcorn (I'm still going to eat it) which is why the program works so well for everyone. Thanks for the post.

CQ -- that is the perfect complement to the article I posted.  I knew there were foods to avoid and was planning on looking for a list.  I actually was thinking that popcorn was probably one that caused inflammation, being that I gain weight eating it and just don't feel as good as when I eat veggies and fruits and lean meats only.  I've been staying away from it much more and do see a difference.  I am a little surprised that honey was one, but I guess that it is too concentrated.

It is so funny how this information is so interesting to me.  When I was in school, science was my least favorite subject, but now I find all this kind of science so interesting.  We grow and we change.  At this time in my life I'm experiencing things that make this information so much more important.  Caring for my mom has really opened my eyes to so much about medicine that is overused and how we can combat so much with the proper diet (oops, LIVEt!) and with exercise.

BTW, exercise is also good to combat inflammation!

Everyone have a blessed day!

That's interesting, Crick because I was loosing on popcorn and stalled with increased fruits. Seems there may be something to nutritional types. I laid off the watermelon for a while but a few days ago could not resist and bought one more since the season will be ending soon. Was on a feeding frenzy all day yesterday after eating it. Will go back to more veggies and less fruit and see if that gets me into the 170's. Been stuck in the 180's way too long.

Yes, Linda, I think that we have to pay attention to our bodies, because we are all different.  I remember Katie saying that she used to lose well eating popcorn, but as she got to a certain point, she wasn't losing with the popcorn.  Maybe as you get closer to your goal you realize the popcorn no longer works as well.  We just need to listen to our bodies.

Thanks, Debbie!  Sometimes I wonder if I help anyone.  I just love sharing when I have a realization that helps me.  I think, for me anyway, that the more understanding I have about things, the more I'm going to have the resolve to stick to it.  Like, I was having trouble staying away from popcorn.  Now that I know it can cause inflammation, I stay away from it.  For me, I don't feel so good eating it -- and this just makes sense for me.  Hope you have continued success with LDL.  I love this way of eating.
