Healthy Eating and Losing Weight

I have been a healthy eater for the last seven years.  I  mostly ate only whole grains, real butter or olive oil, limited processed foods, I quit drinking diet drinks, and I switched to sweet potatoes instead of Irish.  I  am a lifetime weight watcher member, and I weigh in every  month, and yes, I have to pay because I don't lose to goal weight.  If I lost, I would gain it back the next month.  I've tried low carb eating as well as other diet systems.  When introduced to LDL, I thought, "Might as well order the book, if it doesn't work, will place it on the shelf with all my other diet and healthy eating books."  The idea of eating all the fruit I desire and enjoying peas, beans, and fresh corn in abundance and still lose weight seemed like a myth.  I have followed the guidelines of LDL since June. I traveled for one month, yet as of today, I have lost 22 lbs.  I went to new numbers on the scale.  It's the first time in years that I have been this small.  I feel wonderful with more energy.  It's a way of freedom over food.  I have gotten many creative recipes from LDL members.  Believe it or not, after I became an LDL member, I made my very first smoothie.  I never wanted to waste three fruits on one meal.  They are so easy, delicious, and nutritious. Pizza  has always been my downfall in dieting.  Usually, after two weeks without pizza, I have to order one from my favorite pizza parlor.  Cravings disappear on LDL if you choose the right foods.  Cornthins that can be ordered from Amazon are great.  I got this idea from an LDL member. On the cornthin, I put tomato sauce or paste, garlic powder, mushrooms, and a hot pepper slice. Top with 1/4 slice of fat-free cheese. Micro for 25 seconds.  I do four of them. It satisfies and is delicious. God bless Roger for writing such a great book and for all the kind members who have encouraged me.  I could go on and on, because I feel free from dieting.  Forever Friend

Joyful, all I can say to the above is I felt the same way about trying another "diet".....but am I glad that I did......LDL is so good and easy to stay with....my church nurse saw me tonight and her mouth fell open....she couldn't believe how much smaller I am and I still have a long way to go......I may end up being smaller than I have in many years........with all of the help and encouragement that is on these boards how can we not all be winners?

Joyful Friend,

I used to be a WW member about 15 years ago.  I finally lost one summer but I remember it as REALLY hard, starving, exercising, and struggling to reach that small summer goal  :'(  I'm back about that goal range but this time it wasn't hard, no starving, no exercising or struggling  :D.  I choose LDL.  *love*  I'm glad for those who do well on WW but it wasn't for me.

Thanks, Ginny and Cookie.  I became a  lifetime WW in 1972 when dues were 2 bucks and that is still what I pay each month.  It is a healthy way of eating, but it also leaves me so hungry.    I gained my weight back so I've tried to get smaller without success.  It takes too much time counting and weighing.  I feel so blessed to have found LDL.  It has really taken me out of food bondage.  I have people tell me they can't live without chocolate and bread so let them stay in bondage.  I choose to be not hungry and our cravings get satisfied with good foods.  I really enjoy the support I get from the people who answer and post.  It's unbelievable how Roger encourages.  We had a small group meeting at church tonight and I wore my levis-felt great.  Keep up your weight loss and keep encouraging.  Forever Friend

I was also a WW member (along with every other type of diet out there since the 1950's), but LDL is the best -- no counting points, weighing food, or portion control and the best thing, no paying for meetings!  The support on this web site is more than you could ever ask for!

I guess I can identify with everyone here in the "tried every thing before LDL" Nothing worked. Congradulations for giving it a try and now along with the rest of us you see it does work! Yeah!
