Thanksgiving success!!

Post by malmq »

I have been on LDL since Nov. 8th and I wanted to go home for Thanksgiving w/ some weight gone.      I waited 18 days to get on that dreaded scale when I got to mom's.   So, on Thanksgiving morn, I went into her bathroom and closed my eyes, stepped on the scale, looked down and what a blessing to see 7 lbs. gone!    I was so jazzed that I got off the scale and then got back on just to make sure.

I went out into the kitchen and with a huge smile on my face, declared to mom & my hubby of my success.   During the rest of the day I was also able to witness the LDL plan w/ my daughter, who I let take my book back to college so I just ordered 3 more, my sister-in-law, and my sister.  My sister is a therapist who helps people w/ eating disorders and she was excited to share this book w/ one of her clients who is looking for something like this new way of eating.  (When asked what kind of diet I was on, I replied that it was my "new way of eating").

Sitting down for our Thanksgiving dinner was a test of time for me....    I had turkey-white meat only but I sure love that dark!, a little spoonful of cranberries, and squash. Altho' I had to taste the stuffing from my hubbies plate cuz I did make it and everyone was oohing & awing over it :-)    but I had NO CRAVINGS for mashed pot. & gravy-my downfall, more dressing, rolls, or any of the 3 pies that were offered.   It was so nice to finish dinner and not be so stuffed that you can't breathe!   My dessert was the grapes I froze from mom's bowlful.   She always has them so I knew I would be good to go in that department.    No one has had frozen grapes before so I had to make extra to share with them.   My 12 yr. old niece really liked them so she will be freezing them for her after school snack.

I was so THANKFUL that God showed this plan to you, Roger, and for you sharing it w/ the rest of us so we, too, can share it w/ others.

Good for you, malmq.  I too had a very successful and delicious Thanksgiving.  With that success under my ever shrinking belt, I am no longer afraid to trust myself not to eat the wrong foods at Christmas.  I have even promised my 7 yo granddaughters a cookie baking day with Nana.  I know I'll be fine.  Isn't this freedom from food cravings a true gift?! :inlove:.  Pam

Malmq, You have done well.  You said right, "It's not a diet, but a woe.)  Pam, you wrote exactly what my daughter and I chatted about today.  Neither of us gained over Thanksgiving, and we feel so free being in control.  We both make a lot of candy for Christmas.  She is still going to do so because she gives it for gifts to the cooks, maintenance, and other employees at her school.  I am not going to give any and I don't want any in our home.  I'll have fruit sitting all over the house.  It's nice to know we can fix, and still not sway.  Enjoy those cooking making fun  *love* days with your little ones.  Those days are gone for me, but now we have fun shopping and chatting.  I  *love* being a grandmother, just as you do.   :D  Joyful Friend
