Dear GlimR -- Your recipe is 100% LDL - It could not possibly be better.  I love the idea of the spinach.  Just be sure to use as little OJ as possible to get it moving in the blender.  You want to make sure you have as much of the whole fruit as possible in your fruit!

I've been toying with the idea of making a blended fruit and veggie drink like the V-8 Splash, only without all the added sugars.  Why do they do that to innocent produce and try to sell it as healthy product? ? ?  I don't have a high speed blender, so I guess I would have to use juicy veggies with tender skins.

I had a veggie smoothie at the health food store one time and it had EVERYTHING in it - greens, onions, garlic, carrots, tomatoes, apple, orange, grapes.  It was the most digusting color, but was it GOOD!

Scotsgal- Great to see you.  Seems like a number of our "old" regulars are checking back in recently.  How are you doing?  I have been hungry for smoothies again recently with the ridiculously hot weather (103 today)!

WOW, Pam, that is really hot!. I never remember it getting above 92 or 93 in Barberton when I lived there.
At that people were dying from heat exhaustion.
Of course that was back in the olden days when most people did not have AC.
I know what 103 feel like here with dry heat.
In the humidity there it must be unbearable!
Yup, smoothies rule! Heavy on the ice!

Linda- Our thermometer said 103, but I just learned that two "official" thermometers registered 105 and 107!!!!!

That is an all time record for Toledo on any date.  It is miserable!  I am so thankful for air conditioning.  It's been a pleasant 70 in the house.  I even made a batch of unstuffed cabbage in the oven.  I love that stuff.  There's plenty for tomorrow.  Yummy!  Pam

Back to Smoothies:  I like mine simple:  A bag of frozen fruit or a can of drained pineapple (cold from the 'fridge a couple of days, 1/2 a banana and water to the consistancy I'm looking for.  Put all in my Ninja and YUM!

Lately I have been making a tropical smoothie:
- 1 Banana
- 20 oz can Pineapple (100% juice)
- 1 cup frozen diced Mango (available in 5lb bag from Sams Club)
- 1 cup 100% Orange Juice.

When blended tastes like sherbet.

I also like to freeze half of this in a container and take to work as breakfast to eat with a spoon. I just prefer eating breakfast rather than drinking it.

I also have been eating daily a tropical smoothie.  I buy 1 gal cans of pineapple at costco for a great price and freeze what I don't use for next time:

2  C.        Pineapple & juice from can
2            Peeled & pitted peaches(tastes similar to mango)
1 1/2 C.  V8 Lite mango and peach juice
1 tsp      Coconut flavoring

I freeze in 8 to 12 oz cups.  When I want to eat them I put in microwave for 1.20min or you can leave out until melted partially.
