Hi Kathy,  your son also sounds very level-headed and is prepared for his climb.  Being a Geologist, I know he will love being in the rocks!  And his pics will be spectacular!! With your graphics skills in posting here, I'm sure we'll get to see some of them?  :D Please, please.. . .!!  :)

The highpoint of WY is Gannett Peak, close to Dubois http://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail.aspx?trailid=HGU060-050.  DH informed me we're doing a whirlwind highpoint bagging trip on Columbus Day weekend in Oct.  He wants to get OK, ARK, KS, & MO.  Obviously, they aren't hard hikes or I wouldn't be tagging along.  ;)

TX highpoint is Guadalupe Peak, http://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail.aspx?trailid=HGU060-043.  We don't have that one yet.

Very fun Lynn!  You enjoy yourself out in nature!

Yep, Lynn, he loves "being in the rocks", lol.  When he was little he always had rocks in his pockets.  By 4th grade he had a professional looking rock collection.  Of course it didn't hurt any that both of his grandfathers are geologists too and gave him great samples.  Both grandfathers had a geology master's degree but were classroom teachers for middle school science.  Its kind of funny because my son's degree is in the same field but, he is also a teacher.  My son has many awesome pics of all his western trips and also from some of his other mountain climbing experiences.  I look forward to the pictures he will bring home from this one!

A big thank you from the bottom of my heart for all those praying for my son's safety on this trip!  I woke up in the wee hours of the morning in a panic attack for him and prayed until I felt a sense of peace about it all.

I have not heard from my son other than his plane landed safely.  He has terrible phone coverage out west, so I knew I would not hear from him.  He is going to text me when they are down from the summit.  Please keep praying...they are probably climbing today!

Dear Jesus, please send many of your holy angels to surround and protect my son and his climbing buddies.  Let them know Your Majesty and Love from this experience on the top of that mountain.  Bring my son home safely!  Amen.

Dear God, through Jesus name we pray for Kathie's son, that you would keep him in your ever loving arms until he returns safely to his Mother's embrace. We pray Oh Heavenly Father that you would give Kathie peace, knowing YOU have her son in HIS most loving and tender care. We raise up this prayer to you, dear God, through Jesus Christ, your SON, who gave HIS life for us.  We thank you,  sweet Jesus, In the name of THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY GHOST.

AMEN

Praise God....my son is down safely!!!

I can't thank you all enough for the prayers!

He sounded beat when I talked to him on the phone.  The climb was very grueling.  He said it was the most physically challenging thing he ever did and it took much more endurance than when he ran the marathon.  For the last 2000 feet they climbed a straight 17 hours.  They climbed up and then right back down so they would have light.  I was woken from a dead sound sleep in a panic to pray for him, which of course I did.  When we compared times, it was right as they started that 2000 foot climb, lots of sheer face.  God is so good!

He told me about the climb on the phone and I was perfectly calm.  But, when I hung up I bawled my head off for about 30 minutes.....I was just so relieved and thankful he was safe!

Thank you sweet Jesus....AMEN!
