Hello everyone my name is Uhura Sasse everyone calls me Qui-Qui Pronounced ki-ki.  I used to weigh 272 pounds  I tried weight watchers and quit after a few weeks I gained all my weight back.  In June of 2007 I started Let's Do Lunch after a friend tolds me about it  I lost weight, I went down to 225 a total of 47 pounds I was happy and proud and thought I could easly lose the other 65 pounds I wanted to lose.  Three weeks ago I found out some bad news, As a result my eating has been out of control and I have stopped exercising, I have gained 18 pounds back in three weeks and cannot seem to get back on track.  I am sad at my lack of control as I deal with my personal crisis and putting pounds back on makes things worse.

I received a call to put before and after pictures on the board but now I feel like a loser why should I keep trying now.

qui-qui..............don't stress it so much...if you have a lot going on in your life, the stress without your even eating wrong makes your blood sugars fluctuate....wait until you can be away from tempting foods to get through what i find takes 7 days to detox from all the junk.........i hope whatever difficulties you have going on resolves itself or becomes easier to handle...take one day at a time......................sincerely,niki

Hi Qui-Qui...

Don't lose hope!  What Niki says is true.  You may need a few more days strictly on LDL to get rid of those horrible cravings!  You've learned a great lesson, so take it for what it's worth..>Food did not help relieve the stress you had...it only gave you another stress on top of everything else.

I've gone through what you're going through now.  And i was feeling very disappointed in myself for not being able to just hop back on LDL when i went off.  What i have found (at least for myself) is that the second time that you try to get back on LDL, it is not exactly the same experience as the first time.  Give yourself a chance and have patience with LDL, you will be able to get back on.  I have been able to get back on again, thank God, and the weight is just starting to come off again after gaining some of LDL lost weight back.

Please take a deep breath, spend some time talking with Our Lord and ask Him to help you..to give you the motivation to start again.  You CAN do it!

Please try to do LDL very strictly...cook lots of batches of lentils and beans and corn and eat lots of protein...Eat whatever is delicious to you....eat big bowls of popcorn and make it tasty with your sea salt and olive oil.  Eat as much as you want...please don't deprive yourself...fill your belly!  East as often as you want just like you did at the start.  You know that your weight may go up a bit because you're going to be heavy with all those beans inside...but you also know that over a couple of months...maybe a bit more...you're going to see your clothes getting roomier..

Stay off the scale...you know that, of course

I want to share with you that again this morning i felt lighter and when i looked in the mirror i can see my tummy coming down again...thank God!!

You've caught yourself before gaining back all of the weight you lost!  That's something good.  Find the positives and clutch onto them for dear life.....just take it from here and stay on the boards...

Also, please post what you are eating and let's take a look.

God bless.

Hi Qui Qui,
Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you during your difficult time, and also praying that you can get back on track with LDL.  I can speak from experience that eating junk when you are unhappy just makes you feel even worse.  I know sometimes its hard not reach for food when the going gets rough.  But just draw close to God and pray constantly and when you grab foods, grab LDL foods.  I find it easiest when I have LOTS of LDL acceptable foods that are my favorites to be able to grab when I am not in the mood to fix a healthy meal.  I know its hard to get back on track when you fall off.  But we are all humans and we are not perfect.  Can't look back, just forward.  Ask God and he will help you, too.  He wants you healthy, too.  I know there are alot of food temptations this time of year, but lets focus on the relationships, not the food.  Celebrate the family and friends, not the food.  I am talking to you as much as me, because I tend to celebrate or comiserate with food, too.  But, lets learn from our mistakes and move forward.  When we feel good because we are eating right, life is easier to deal with.  Hope I've encouraged you a bit.

Hey all thanks for the encouragement.  I am feeling much stronger after alot of prayers from friends and family and the kind words from you all. I feel ready to deal with my crisis and my eating.  Yesterday I wrote a healty living contract and picked three support people who signed the contract to help mestay on track. I will call one of them everyday to tell them about my eating and my exercise habits.  They have offered to make sure I stick to the eating style written in Lets do Lunch and to make sure I exercise for at least an hour Monday thru Saturday.  I ordered a new book because my sister won't return mine, I will be working with a personal trainer two days a week.  Yesterday I hiked six miles with my husband and son.

On a side note my mother and husband have been doing the lets do lunch plan with me and they both stopped when I was eating bad and they gained weight so they are telling me now that I have to get it together so they can stop gaining weight.  My mom was a size 18 and went down to a size 12 but her clothes are tight my husband went from a size 38 to a size 34 but his clothes are tight too.  I guess I better get them back on track too.  We have worked really hard to put weight back on.  Look for pictures of me soon and of them too.

Thank you all for caring.

Hi Qui-Qui!

Glad you're feeling better and more hopeful.  It's wonderful that you have a personal trainer!  That's great!

i just wanted to say, though, that i hope that your family was only kidding when they were suggesting that you are the cause of them going of LDL.  Sure, i know how they feel because when my hubby has his Irritial Bowel Syndrom symptoms i find that bread and other non LDL foods really help to stabilize him...and when i have those things in the house, i am at risk for going off plan.  But i KNOW that i am responsible for myself.  I can't blame anyone else for what goes into my mouth!  If my hubby tied me down and force fed me cheeses, crackers, breads, pasta and such (hmmm..what a wonderful thought!!), then i could say it was his fault..you know?  I also am aware that i like to think, sometimes, that i can fix everyone's problems...that's not fair to me and i'm stopping that way of thinking.

So please don't burden yourself with being responsible for the weightloss of all your loved ones!  You'll make yourself nutty!!  *woot*

Keep going and please keep us posted on how your feeling and doing!

God bless...

Hi Qui Qui,

Welcome!  We are a loving, praying ministry of folks who are "in the same boat".

Join us here on the boards and if you have questions - ask away!  The more "seasoned" members will have answers for you.  I am just past being a Newbie myself...I started Sept. 22 and I have lost 22 pounds...and it was all effortlessly...my cravings disappeared within a week of being totally on LDL plan.

Thank God for LDL!

Again, Welcome Aboard!

Much Love,
Doreen
