My dad's 4th anniversary of death is on Aug.12
He died on Leukemia 4 yrs ago and i know it will be a hard day for my mom.
They where married for 54 years . I'm just thankfull that we kept my dad at home and took care of him till he died.
So he wasn't alone when he got free at last..
I planted a lot of flowers on his grave today the way my dad loved it.
So, i hope when we go there that my mom get a little smile on her face...

Chrissy -- I love that you are sensitive to your mom at the anniversary of your dad's death. Aug. 9th was the 21st anniversary of my dad's death. When my dad died, I tried to be sensitive to the holidays, birthdays and anniversaries that would stir up sadness. I planned little trips for my dad's birthday and their anniversary that first year. I still got my mom an anniversary card on their anniversary, because it was still a very special day that deserved being celebrated. I remember contacting my siblings when it was their 50th anniversary and asking them to not just ignore it. They sent her flowers and it was appreciated by her. In fact, for the first Christmas after my dad's death, I got in touch with a friend of mine in Hannover, Germany, and made plans for my mom and myself to spend Christmas with her and her family. Instead of the intense sadness, we have really special memories of that Christmas. I'll never forget how my friend Marina's mom and my mom hit it off. They didn't speak the same language, but it was like they were communicating without it. It was really a precious thing. We got to go to the Netherlands for a day and we spent a couple of days in Paris. It was such a special trip and helped both of us get through the first Christmas without a very special man.
I pray that you are comforted as well as your mom. Find ways to make it a brighter day.

My prayers for you all! I still have both of my parents but have lost my sister to cancer this past December and now my Dad is in the throws of alzheimers disease and Moms exhausted doing her best to provide a quality life for him. We all have our journeys and prayer for each other is the most and the least we can do for one another. May God Bless you today and everyday. Lynda

Chrissy, Your tribute to your Father is amazing!

Please know that you and your Mother are in my prayers. In times of trouble and pain, lift your eyes to the Lord. It's in these times that we need him most. Have no doubt he will carry you and you Mother in HIS arms. Have no fear, as you move forward that HE walks with you and your Mom. Many Blessings to you both.
