Baaaad allergic reaction! A praise report...

:'( Last night I ate a piece of Kiwi (something I eat all the time) and suddenly my mouth was burning... and swelling.. I ran to my husband and said "Mike, something's wrong... I think I'm having an allergic reaction to the kiwi" he thought that was kinda strange, but he could tell I was genuinely frightened so he grabbed the benadryl and gave me some. I sat there for about 30 mins... feeling worse with each passing moment... and when he asked me AGAIN "how're you feeling" with tears in my eyes I said "I don't feel good at all, please help me... I feel like I'm going to throw up... and my eyes hurt". He got a closer look at me and said "your eyes are swelling and turning red, I think we should take you to the ER". Before we could leave I did get sick... losing the kiwi and everything from dinner (my body's defense system at work) but I lost the benadry too! So off to the hospital we went....

By the time we got into our car to leave I couldn't see... he had to lead me like a blind person when we got there... and as soon as they saw me they grabbed a wheelchair and rushed me to the back... they didn't even register me before starting treatment. Having worked in the ER myself, year's ago, I know that they don't do that for patience unless they truly believe it is URGENT!

Believe it or not... for the next few hours I was SO BLESSED by the care I received at Holy Name Hospital here in New Jersey... the didn't treat me like a number, but as a person... with feelings and fears. They were gentle, and kind... I thank God for that hospital and for the ENTIRE staff in that ER. Turns out they saved my life from a piece of fruit.... NO MORE KIWI for me! This wasn't exactly a prayer request.. it's more of a praise report.. hope that's okay!

Oh Tiffany! I am so sorry you had to go through that! How scary my dear. I am so thankful your husband was there and took action and how wonderful that you received such good care.

I am so glad you are ok!  *hug*
