Hello,
I'm just getting started with this program. My story (thus far) is startlingly similar to Roger's. My weight peaked around 408, 60-inch waist, etc, and although I had hoped that walking my daughter down the aisle last month would have provided enough motivation for me to trim down, it was actually the act of walking her down the aisle at my peak weight that God used to open my eyes. I suddenly realized how desperately I love my kids and want to be around for them. I have dieted ("successfully") before and "successfully" put it all back on, so I had come to the same conclusion that Roger expresses in his book: I need a life-change, from this day forward, and not some 24-month crash program to knock the weight off and then go back to my old ways. I have lost 27 pounds since Dec 5 by cutting back on my eating and getting some exercise, but I have been concerned about the "deprivation mentality."
So I was absolutely thrilled to stumble upon Roger's book while shopping on my Kindle this morning. I strongly sense God's hand in this. As a Christian, I understand the concept of "new life" from a spiritual perspective, but the Lord has been showing me that He intends for it to be a physical reality as well. This is really a new awareness for me, and not to take anything away from the spiritual dimension, but I think it's so cool to understand that Jesus cares deeply about my physical well-being too!
Anyhow, sorry to be verbose, but I would definitely appreciate prayers as God walks me though this change and teaches me to trust Him more in this area of my life.
In Christ,
-Doug-

HI Doug,
I am thrilled to be the first one to welcome you into our family and to a new way of life with LDL.

So many of us have felt that we were led here by God and his angels. I know that finding LDL was the answer to my prayers and as is often the case, God has provided me with not just an eating plan I can follow for the rest of my life but also with a loving supportive community to provide me with guidance and caring. I could not have imagined to ask for that.

You will lose as much weight as you need to by following Roger's plan as he had laid it out in the book. I know you will be successful and feel healthier than you could have imagined possible after a few short weeks.

If you can find the time to start a journal, please do so in that section and you will be provided with guidance and encouragement every day. Make sure you have all the LDL foods on hand so you will be able to grab and go when you need to. Make it as automatic as possible and you will succeed. Try some of the hundreds of great recipes on the boards - they are really incredible. Read the success stories for inspiration.
I will pray for you and hope to hear about your success real soon.
Julie

Welcome Doug to the most wonderful way of eating that I have ever found...I know with this woe the pounds will drop off and you will feel better then you have in years. and as the others have found out this plan DOES WORK. I started this way of eating Sept 8, 2009 and already lost 36 pounds, so I know if I can do it so can YOU. And Doug if you have 100 or more pounds to lose please check out the Hundred pound club under the General Discussion section of this website, we would love to have you join us there.

Doug, so glad you are joining all of us that are finding victory on this WOE. You will love the food, fellowship, support and love on this site. For me it has been very important to do a journal and keep track of what I am eating plus if I am doing something not according to weight loss I well get the help I need.
I have a lot to lose so I know it will not be gone overnight but I have made small goals that are helping me meet the larger end goal.
Just imagine going towards our goals and eating as much as we need to feel full and still losing pounds and inches. What a miracle!
I also was praying when God sent me to Let's do Lunch in November. I got on this site and found a whole lot of fantastic recipes and ideas for everyday, every meal eating. You will love LDL and it won't take long before you will feel great health wise and weight wise.
My husband is also doing Let's Do Lunch with me so it has made it much easier to cook one meal rather then separate ones. So hopefully as you eat this wonderful food your family will join in and eat right along with you.

Hi Doug!
Welcome to LDL (Let's Do Lunch, in case someone new doesn't know)!!!
I am so fortunate that my husband agreed to try this with me. He only wanted to lose the 15 pounds that he gained since he retired. As of today, he's lost 24.6 pounds! He is almost to the recommended weight range for his age and height.
I know that it seems like a big task, but it helps by making smaller goals. I knew that I'd feel better if I lost 1/4 of the 72 pounds (that would put me at the high end of my weight chart), so I set that as my first goal. I get to celebrate every little goal - and I've been celebrating a lot!
So, take it one day at a time and you'll probably reach your first goal very quickly. Just imagine how you'll feel come summer!
My prayers are for your success!!!

Hi Doug! This reminds me of when my daughter got married. I wanted to lose 5 pounds (which really wasn't enough) and instead, gained 5 pounds. Stress, good or bad, can mean weight gain in my experience, especially before Let's Do Lunch.
I'm so glad you "stumbled" on Roger's book in your kindle. While flicking through channels I "happened" to see Roger and his wife Anita on TV cooking something yummy. It looked so good, I had to stop and watch. I just love God "coincidences"!

I love how God chose someone who loved to eat to show us how to
eat and lose without feeling deprived.
You have some good eating ahead of you and I'm excited for the journey you have begun. I look forward to hearing more of your experience with Let's Do Lunch.
Welcome, welcome, welcome!
