Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
didn't feel like eating today I have been struggling for a few days with vertigo. I don't know if there is a flu going around like this or if it is because my blood pressure keeps dropping low for me. I have cut it back to 1/2 pill a night but it seems to still dip. Yesterday morning it was so bad dh had to help me go from the bed to my chair so I wouldn't fall down. It got better by mid morning and even today is much better and I can walk fine just keep getting a swimming head.

Feel better soon Wendygoodnews. Call that Doc of yours if you do not get better, dipping blood pressure is scary.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Wendy,
This same thing happened to my husband and they treated him for sinus infections, etc and finally changed his BP med. It did clear some after the change but started coming back after being on LDL for several months. Coincidentally, he was forgetting to take his meds and after 2 days of not taking any, he was wondering if he should take it on the 3rd day. Checked his BP and it was actually low. Something like 100/60. He sure did not need any that day, but knowing the BP can rebound after going off, I checked his BP daily for a week or so. It stayed down so I checked it several times a week for the next few weeks until his doctor's appointment. It was still down so she told him to stay off it. I continued to check it regularly and it has remeined normal for nearly a year now.
I am suspicious it is your meds causing the dizziness but the only way to know for sure is to stop them. Don't do it until you talk to your doc and assure them that you will monitor your BP daily while off meds. I have know at least 2 other people with the same dizziness episodes that were in BP meds. Not sure why it only happens to some people but it is very incapacitating when it does.
Years ago, before LDL, DH decided he did not need meds and stopped on his own.
BP was sky high in a few months but he was eating lots of junk food and bread and crackers then too.
With LDL he has maintained a normal weight and normal BP for nearly a year now. Praise God!

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Thanks knighte I plan on making an apt on Monday.
Linda that is what I have thought is it will be my blood pressure meds. My head was swimming so much this morning I just went back to bed and then when I got up again it was better. Thanks for your advise I am going to talk to the doctor about going off the meds.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Thanks for asking
Today has been a really hard day. I looked at if I had done anything different this last week. The only new thing I added was Fish Oil tablets. I got on line today and found some people saying the same thing. They got really dizzy and their head would swim. I am going to quit taking them tonight and see if I am better in the morning.

Interesting, Wendy,
DH had also been taking Fish Oil capsules. But the second bout of dizziness I don't think he was taking them, but I could be wrong.
Interesting though. The fish oil could be bottoming out your BP also.
I think I will start taking them. I don't have to take high BP meds but cholesterol has always been over 200. And although still normal, my BP is somewhat higher than what it used to be. Will let you know how it affects me.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
My doctor had me start taking fish oil capsules last November because he thought my colesterol was slightly high. I have not had my colesterol test done since then but will have it done again in May when I see him next. Also, my husband takes one capsule a day and he takes BP meds but has not had dizzy episodes so my thinking is you are experiencing vertigo. I had a bout of severe vertigo a few years ago and saw an ear, throat and nose specialist. He gave me Meclizine to take which cleared up the vertigo in just a few days.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Interesting Wendy,
Hope that fixes things for you. I was thinking DH was taing 3 fish oil capsules a day when he was taking them.
Could be large doses may lower the BP also so with your BP med it bottomed you out...... or it could also be a mild allergic reaction affecting just the inner ear.
They gave DH Meclazine when he had it and it did not clear it up for him.
He believes it was a fungus infection in his sinuses affecting his inner ear.
Whatever the cause he is glad it is gone. It is very disabling.
Glad you are feeling better.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Woke up feeling great again today so I guess fish oil is out for me. Glad it was easy enough to figure out and I didn't have to live for awhile with such a terrible ailment.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
I had a doctor's check up yesterday. My blood pressure was 100/70 (normal for me has been high, 150/95) but I have been consistently taking my blood pressure meds and fish oil for the past couple months. So, she cut my meds in half. Another thing, I have a very slow pulse lately...barely above 50. She said that could be because of blood pressure meds...I haven't had any dizziness though, surprisngly.
Will be monitoring of course but I'm anxious to see how my lab results are for cholesterol. Lisa
