Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Because this is a God-Inspired WOE, people who hear about it and reject it at first, still know, deep-down, that this is what works and it will nag at them until like salvation, they surrender and let the Lord help them. Just keep on with what you know is right, and soon they will want to follow you.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Tried my Ninja to make snow type ice for my lemonade. It worked wonderful since I didn't put too much ice in this time. I put fresh raspberries in the bottom and it was a great treat with the lemonade.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Wendy, just like salvation, the LDL way of eating is a choice. I have some friends who have embraced it. Others roll their eyes and say, "No sweets, no potatoes, no breasts, what's left." They look at what you can't have instead of what you can. Wendy, you are doing so well. I'm glad your mom has the book. Maybe your sis will be encouraged more when she sees all you and yours have accomplished.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Thank you all for your encouragment for my family. My older son is over 400 lbs and says he hates beans so won't do LDL. I am still praying he will realize that he can make it work with eating beans or with hiding them in things. As he see us losing he will get busy and lose also since he hates being heavy.
Pam that is something I have noticed also is the bust line shrinking. I have for all my adult life had Fibrocystic breast disease. But since being on LDL it is totally gone. What a transformation our bodies are taking in all areas!

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
I found this recipe in a magazine I read every month. I don't care for Cranberries so I am going to make it with frozen cherries. Let me know if anyone else makes this what you think.
APPLE CRANBERRY SALMON SALAD
½ cup barbecue sauce (there is a recipe on the boards for BBQ sauce)
4 4-ounce salmon fillets
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons honey
¼ teaspoon sea salt
Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
1 pound Gala apples
½ pound Granny Smith apples
½ cup fresh cranberries, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh tarragon, chopped
Preparation
1. In a shallow glass baking dish, combine the barbecue sauce and salmon. Cover and marinate for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
2. In a large bowl, combine lemon juice, honey, salt and pepper. Core apples and thinly slice. Add sliced apples to lemon-honey mixture and toss together. Toss cranberries and tarragon with apple mixture. Preheat grill or broiler.
3. Grill or broil salmon fillets 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until fish is opaque in the center. Do not overcook. Break apart salmon fillets into bite-size pieces. Toss salmon with apple-cranberry salad. Evenly divide among 4 plates and serve.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
I am so low on groceries that I had trouble figuring out what to have for breakfast. I dug through my recipes and found the new recipe of Strawberry & Banana Omelet. I didn't have strawberries so I used Raspberries and used maple flavoring. It was wonderful tasting and quite filling. Of course I cut it down in half.
B: Raspberry banana Omelet
L: Chicken Breast w/ garbanzo bean flour & spices
Wonderslaw
D: Fuji Apple w/ SF Carmel

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
I found this recipe in a magazine I read every month. It sounded so interesting with the yellow squash added. I would use just enough mayo to hold it together and probably would not have to use the amount they ask for. If anyone tries these let me know how you like them.
YELLOW SQUASH DEVILED EGGS
1 pound sliced yellow squash
1 dozen hard-boiled eggs
½ cup mayonnaise
1 heaping tablespoon mustard
2 teaspoons sour pickle juice
2 teaspoons paprika
½ teaspoon ground mustard
½ teaspoon garlic powder
dash rice vinegar
Preparation
1. Steam squash until tender. Puree in food processor. Measure out 1/2 cup.
2. Halve the eggs and put yolks in separate bowl. Mash the yolks and mix in squash. Add mayo and remaining ingredients and mix well with fork.
3. Scoop mixture into large Ziploc bag. Cut off a small corner of bag and pipe mixture into egg halves. Sprinkle with paprika or chili powder for a little spice.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
Interesting recipe, Wendy.
I'll have to try it soon! This would keep the nice yellow color of the yolks, rather than making them more of a tan color with garbanzos, or green with peas. Love the flavor of yellow squash, too! I should be able to come up with a good excuse to try these.
Thanks!
Terri

I have not tried this but will at some point. Let me know if you try it and like it. I am not much of a squash eater but my husband loves it.

Today is Bible study so we will be having soup for dinner tonight. I made taco soup but put just a small amount of meat in it so the others will have meat. I got so busy I forgot to eat breakfast so was really hungry by lunch time.

Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss
I use frozen pineapple, banana and orange concentrate then add coconut flavoring. it makes about 4 cups when I am finished and I put them in the freezer until I want to eat one. I then take it out and let it unthaw some so it is creamy again.
The pineapple is out of cans that I separate into 2 ziploc bags with juice. The coconut flavoring I add probably 6 drops. It reminds me of frozen yogurt when I first make it. I have to add water to it if it gets too thick for the blender but only a little or it gets to runny.
Hope this helps so you can make it. It is sooo yummy. I got this recipe from someone else on the boards awhile back.

It is imitation Coconut Extract and Ingred. are water, propylene glycol, alcohol 17%, artificial flavors, tartaric acid.
It is what I found Wal Mart. I haven't had time to go to the Good Food Store and check there to see if there is a Coconut flavoring that is more natural.
