Tonz2day Journal

Post by tonz2day »

After one week on the program I decided to start posting to give me some accountability.  I plan on posting the day after which means the food is already in my tummy but the "food police" can correct any of my eating flaws for another day.  I tend to cook on the weekends and eat the same item for a week.  BTW, I LOVE LDL!

Monday
Upon waking - coffee with Splenda
Breakfast - strawberries & pineapple, coffee  with Splenda
Snack - banana
Lunch - LDL Mushroom Soup, chicken breast, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, FF dressing
Snack - frozen grapes
Dinner- kiwi, peach, orange
Snack - huge amount of frozen grapes (found I had the munchies)

Looks good T2day! I like to post after I've eaten as well.
Don't worry about the munchies.  Just eat yummy LDL foods till full when you're hungry. Pretty awesome, huh?
Wishing you an enjoyable train ride to skinnytown,

Breakfast-grapes, strawberries, pineapples
Lunch-LDL mushroom soup w/butter beans added to it, chicken

Dinner-fruit smoothie-pineapple juice, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries (DEFINITELY don't like the blackberries in the smoothie because of all the seeds but I'm going to use them all up)

I'll agree with you on the blackberries... I made one last night with them in it... I tried to drink carefully and then just drank about a 1/2 bottle of water when I was done to wash my mouth out. It was good though. I also had pineapple, mango and peaches in mine.

Scarlett, what do you use for "juice" to make it a smoothie?  I use either OJ or pineapple juice but I worry about the calories in it.  Sometimes I have so much frozen fruit in my smoothie that it gets so thick that the blender doesn't like it.

Upon waking-coffee with splenda
Upon arrival of work - coffee with splenda
Breakfast-grapes, strawberries, pineapples
Lunch-LDL mushroom soup w/lima beans added to it - I forgot my protein (chicken) and lots of soup spilled out of my container so I was hoping I wouldn't be hungry before supper (I wasn't)
Dinner-corn, black beans, salad & pepper

I had bought a 1/2 gal carton of 100% pineapple juice and a bottle of simply orange w/ mango... I use a magic bullet so I fill up the cup with the fruit, then pour the one of the juices until it's about half full then finish off with the other juice. Most of the time I have to take it off to add more juice because it's so thick... I think i'm just going to not put so much fruit then there will be more room for juice to start.

You're using fresh not frozen fruits?  Next time I'm going to have to use my bullet.  Right now I'm using my regular blender and its a pain in the ___ to clean up.  Bullet is much easier.  But I guess it gets back to the question of are you using fresh or frozen fruits?  I don't know if the bullet can handle frozen.

I'm using frozen... I only buy fruit about once a week... all that fruit wouldn't last that long... So I buy fresh to eat for breakfast and I get the frozen for the smoothies.

Yesterday it was pretty much the same as the rest of the week.
Upon waking-coffee with splenda
Upon arrival of work - coffee with splenda
Breakfast-grapes, strawberries, pineapples
Lunch-LDL mushroom soup w/lima beans added to it, chicken
Dinner-smoothie - pineapple juice, blueberries, blackberries & pineapple
Snack-grapes

Today will be a different experience.  Going to switch my protein from lunch to dinner as my son and his girl are coming over and my DH is grilling.  He’s never cooked fish on the grill (everyone else will have steaks) so this will be a new experience.  I found Mary’s Grilled Fish with Salsa Verde so I think I’ll try that.  I also will try Bill’s Mashed Potatoes which will be new for me as well.

Another challenge will be over the weekend we’ll be at our church fair working and playing.  I believe they always have grilled chicken with dirty rice and green beans.  I’ll order the grilled chicken without dirty rice and two servings of the green beans.

I DID IT!  I had my birthday dinner and I did not eat anything off LDL.  No way I would have been able to do that 2 weeks ago.  I even served cheesecake to my guests and I had a bunch of grapes.  I think they felt guilty for eating in front of me but it didn't bother me at all.

Yesterday it was pretty much the same as the rest of the week.
Upon waking-coffee with splenda
Upon arrival of work - coffee with splenda
Breakfast-grapes, strawberries, pineapples
Lunch-LDL mushroom soup w/lima beans (no protein this time because saving it for dinner)
Dinner-Mary's Grilled FIsh with Salsa Verde (very good), Bill's Mashed Potatoes (1st time to try and very good also), grapes

Todays challenge being at the church fair working and playing.  I believe they always have grilled chicken with dirty rice and green beans.  I’ll order the grilled chicken without dirty rice and two servings of the green beans.

Have a great weekend!  It's beautiful in Baton Rouge!

Looks like you have a plan and are sticking to it.......I am the same way, I eat basically the same things every week......I do have a cook day about once a month where I cook 4-5 different things and freeze them in portion size containers....my hubby is a very picky eater, so I cook for him and pull my protein meal out of the freezer and just add some veggies.....I agree that posting what we eat helps to keep us on track....be seeing you around as we get closer to Skinnytown...

Oh, you clever old thing Tonz!  A birthday dinner and you stuck to the rules?  I think a little victory dance is in order here, girl!

I'm glad you liked Bill's Mashed Potatoes, I think I may be addicted to them.  You're almost at the end of your second week, aren't you?  Will you weigh in then, or wait until the month is up?

your meals look great, are you eating until full, that is so important when you start, or when you slip off the rails.  As for fruit smoothies, if I use fresh fruit and berries, I sometimes use canned pineapple and the juice from it, other times I'll use pure orange juice, and recently I've found that no sugar added applesauce works too.  Now that the weather is getting colder you might try the pumpkin smoothie that Patsyfae has on the recipe boards.  It makes a lot, but you can drink it hot or cold, and it freezes well.

Patsyfae's Pumpkin Smoothie rocks!  I just made my 2nd batch.  It tastes so good warmed up on a cold morning.  Pam

Another successful day on LDL!
B-slept late and too close to lunch so just soynuts (where have these been all my life?)
L-fish, 3-bean salad (rinsed) and vegetable mix (brocolli, cauliflower and carrots)
S-banana & frozen grapes
D-smoothie (blackberries, blueberries, pineapple, apple & pineapple juice)
S-frozen grapes

Suffering from hay fever so it was a good day to stay indoors and cook the LDL way.  Cooked baked chicken for the freezer, Creamy Cauliflower Soup and Taco Soup.  I'll try the Cauliflower Soup today but my sip of Taco Soup has convinced me I'll be making this a lot.

Have a good week!

Tonya,

My mom and I made the Roasted Garlic and Butternut Squash soup yesterday. It is very good and creamy. No protien so it will be a good soup for me to eat at night snuggled up on the couch. We are already planning on the next time we make it to leave out the Italian herbs and putting cinnamon and nutmeg. Was it hard to make?  I've never roasted veggies before so when I saw the recipe I ignored it.

The hardest thing was cutting up and peeling the squash. We decided to do a double batch while the oven was warmed up so that both of us could have some. It really wasn't that hard. I had tried to make it Saturday on my own but that didn't work so well because I didn't have exactly what the recipe called for. I had tried with the minced garlic from a jar and dried onions... Not so good. Everything on the edges burt after just 20 mins in the oven. So I threw it all away and bought more squash and went to the "Pro's" (Mom's) house. It came out great!! I had to have some for dinner last night instead of my usual smoothie.
