Cuz, you are doing great for a good start of 2011.  I can't wait until the weather is better.  The snow is beautiful, but it gets miserable after a while.  I went back to the gym today.  I am at goal, and it doesn't take exercise to keep it so, but the exercise makes me feel terrific.  I walked 2 miles and then some weight training.  I get my legs worked on(laser on veins) in Feb.     and  :)  JF

Is your surgery for a vericose vein?  If so, my son had that laser surgery just before he moved to Mason, OH, and was very happy he had it done.  He was walking the same day without pain; but, he did have to watch the amount of moving around he did for a few days afterwards. However, whatever you surgery is for, I wish you well.  Lv, Vicki

Thanks, Vicky Lynn.  Yes, it is for varicose veins.  I have the stockings that I am to wear.  I also have to walk 1/2 hour each day after getting them fixed.  I got a sore leg in October from someone bumping me with a stroller while I was at Bob Evans Farm Festival judging.  I had blood clots, so I stayed away from regular exercise until they got better.  I am having my work done in Columbus, Ohio.  She is a vein specialists.  Yesterday, I had no problem with the exercise.  With my new body weight, it was if I had never been away.  It is very hard watching people over exercising trying to keep their weight in control.  Eat LDL foods, and exercise for health benefits give me so much freedom.  It is a hard concept to grasp.  Country Girl and I are very grateful that it is a plan that works for us.  We didn't have to make any NY resolutions, other than keep one with great choices, and to keep Jesus Christ at the top of our priorities.  When He is where He belongs in our lives, then it is easier to  enjoy every day.  *love*  :)    JF

Thanks, Crick.  I think it will.  God was so good to me by allowing me to get in with the young lady vein specialist.  My insurance co. has approved it.  I have stood on my legs a whole lot which contributed to what I inherited.  My mom's legs looked similar to mine.  Most are knee and above.  *love*  JF

Wanda only good wishes coming your way with your surgery.

Today was a good day.  Fruit for breakfast with egg on corn thin.  Lunch was califlower mixed with white beans mashed, kind of like potatoes, salt and pepper.  Dinner was more califlower mixture and one small piece of scrapple that my DH made.  Now the interesting part of this is the scrapple was really good but one small piece was all I needed to taste and I did not crave anymore.  It was lean, but I know not LDL friendly. The cravings are actually leaving.  I am looking for pumpkin receipes, will go on the board.  Does anyone have special pumpkin one they could recommend.

Thanks

Hello all

Somewhere on these boards I read a version of what I fixed tonight.  Red Lentils, enough water to cover with chicken flavoring added and 3 large carrots chopped in chunks, cook till soft about 15 minutes, then mashed with hand masher.  Took 1/2 of red onion and sauteed in a little olive oil until tender and lightly browned, added to Lentil/carrot mixture.  Very tasty.  Just thought I would share, though I know I saw this somewhere on these boards.  Have a great evening.

Well had some lab work done.  Waiting to hear.  I have not been perfect on LDL but have changed so much of the way I was eating in the past.  I stopped my cholesteral meds and started taking 2 fish oil capsules a day. Problem with that is sometimes I forget so not sure how this will affect my test results.  I really do not want to start taking the meds again, the best thing that happened is I can not feel any more heart palpatations.  MY stress test I took last month did not show any either.  I know eating LDL will help with all of my health problems.  Have a great week everyone.

I hope your tests come out good.
I had mine done a week ago and the doctor said she could really tell I was eating healthy.  My cholesterol was still just off by a few points so even that is better.  She will run tests again in 3 months after I excersize she said.
So I know that eating LDL even if it isn't perfect should help the blood work come back great.

It is fantastic that you could stop taking your cholesterol medication and yeah for no heart palpitations. I hope your new blood work comes back with more good news.

Thank you Wendy and Knighte,

I stopped my cholesterol meds on my own so am really hoping the Fish oil capsules do the trick.  Is there anyone else out there that have tried the fish oil with good results.? Any more suggestions?  I know eating the LDL way is a great way to eat with all its healthy benefits.  Have a great week everyone.  I'm hoping our snow goes away and a little warmer weather starts but it could always be worse.

I have heard of doctors prescribing fish oil when the medication is not enough.
DH was taking fish oil but his cholestrol has always been normal.
I am sure if I were going to a doctor they would want to talk me into the meds since my cholesterol runs 220-240. But knowing what I know of the side effects of those drugs, and since I don't have current health factors other than heredity, I won't take them. I have heard krill oil may be the best fish oil. If I were going to buy any, I think I would try the krill.

Is Krill oil a brand or a type of oil.  I have not seen it here if it is a brand but I live in a small town but when I go into the city I could look.  I have not read the small print on the fish oil, perhaps I should.  Still do not have my results, my is at least 50% heredity.  1 year ago when my cholesterol (total) was I think 196 the upped my meds. I tried that but it was not worth it went back to original dose.  Now I have stopped it but am waiting for my results.

Krill is a type of fish, so instead of Fish Oil, it should say Krill Oil. I can't swear to it but seems like I saw some at Wal-Mart and was surprised it was there. Guess the word is getting out. I am sure there will be various brands selling it.
Here is one site with info about it:
