I read this article on Medscape for Nurses and am bringing this here to let you know that, even with pills, it seems that reaching a plateau at 6 months is normal.
With LDL there are plenty of testimonies that if you just keep eating LDL the plateau will break on its own.
Too bad the medical community has not "got it" yet. But there is hope for them also.
With the overwhelming evidence that LDL does work, they will begin to rethink die-t vs live-t
Wanted: A Pill That Melts Fat
As Americans become more obese and the associated health problems reach epidemic proportions, the need for a safe and effective weight loss drug has become urgent. Over the years, this quest has been marked with short-lived triumphs and many defeats, leaving patients and clinicians with less than ideal weapons in the fight against obesity.
The few drugs that have actually reached the market in recent years promote weight loss either by boosting the body's basal metabolic rate, blocking the absorption of dietary fat, or suppressing appetite.[glow=yellow,2,300]People who take these drugs typically lose weight for the first 6 months until they reach a plateau that can't be surpassed without increasing exercise or caloric restriction[/glow].The problems with many of these agents have been a lack of proven long-term safety, and the fact that when such drugs are stopped, the weight is usually regained.
Most clinicians are aware that pharmacotherapy is not indicated as a first-line therapy for obesity, and should not be initiated until all nonpharmacologic attempts at weight loss (diet, exercise) have failed.[1] It is also important to evaluate other medications that the patient may already be taking, as some may promote weight gain (eg, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, and insulin), thereby negating the effects of anti-obesity drugs.[2]
The decision to prescribe a weight-loss drug involves a careful assessment of the risks and benefits.[3] As a general rule, an effective regimen should help patients lose at least 4 pounds in the first 4 weeks, or 5% of baseline weight in the first 3 months on therapy.
As researchers continue searching for an ideal weight-loss agent, clinicians must work with available therapies while awaiting newer drugs in the pipeline.

Re: Wanted: A Pill That Melts Fat
Ahhhh.. the lure of the quick fix / quick weight loss promises...
Let's face it - we all want it, we all read about it, and most of us try it.
I tried LDL the first time because of the article in First magazine.....it promised that we would drop lbs quickly - I did not care at first about the "eat till your full" thing. All I saw was the amount of pounds we could lose quickly. The program did work for me.. for 2 months, but my stall after that lasted 2 months, and truthfully - I looked for the next big thing...as I think it is human nature to do.
I am back however - hoping for the same if not better results this time around... I think the last time I lost 26-29 lbs in 2 months on LDL -- so I am hoping for that same number again.... and should I stall after that I will have to buck it up and keep trying since so many people have had the success they seek on this program...
This time I am exercising more, and getting my fruits and veggies in easier w/the smoothies which I hope keep the lbs coming as the time goes by.

Roger:
I do understand that... honestly I do...it is just hard when the success was so wonderful at first and then stalled. The truth is I have lost a total of 50 lbs over the last couple of years, part w/LDL and part other ways. I never seem to gain it back (if I do it is usually 6-8 lbs of the initial loss) but mostly I just stall stall stall. So I go off the diet and try another avenue - which like all other diets I tried - works at first then stalls......... which this time I am going to really try and give LDL a chance again.
I enjoy the foods that are offered with this lifestyle......I have never been a big sweets person, which is why I think w/the first go around I gave up on this...partly because I stalled, but I was also really getting sick of fruit and veggies.... and the initial time I started it was fruit only bf and dinner... got hard for me. But the vitamix blender I bought now makes that a cinch.... so that along with the changes that you can eat LDL foods whenever you want - just trying to avoid heavy protein at night should be easier for me.

LMSP, my weight has stalled but I am losing inches and that is more important to me. I love this woe! Hang in there, it will happen.

Re: Wanted: A Pill That Melts Fat
Although I have not measured much, during my stall, my clothes continued to get bigger and more people noticed I looked slimmer even though the scales had not budged. Doesn't really matter to me what the numbers are as long as I like the reflection in the mirror and I like how the clothes fit.
