A friend posted this on facebook tonight and I thought it sounded good. However, it needs some recipe reconstruction to fit LDL. I thought I would post it and see if Linda, or someone else who is good at conforming recipes to make them more LDL friendly, might weigh-in on what to substitute for the milk and maple syrup. I think the raisins could be omitted and the maple sypup could be replaced with stevia or splenda, but I'm not sure about the milk. Maybe just water could be used in place of milk. And, of course, the whipped topping can be omitted. Any suggestions?

Re: Pumpkin Spice Smoothie
instead of using almond milk, just use skim milk....
instead of syrup, use honey....
i wouldn't put anything on top, i would just enjoy it the way it is...

Re: Pumpkin Spice Smoothie
Raisins in small amounts are LDL friendly.
Roger cautions about dried fruit and encourages fresh fruit instead.
But dried fruit is preferable as something stable that can be carried in purse or car for a quick snack to tide you over.
I think a can of crushed pineapple will substitute for the sweetner and the "milk".
That is what is used in Patsy's Pumpkin smoothie.
I saw this recipe on FB also and decided it may resemble the Hot pumpkin smoothie when all the tweeking is said and done. So I did not post, but sure got me thinking about getting out the pumpkin and cranberry recipes

Re: Pumpkin Spice Smoothie
Just made a pumpkin smoothie! Thanks for posting the recipe! I used light soy milk, 1.5 t. pumpkin pie spice, .5 t. vanilla, and 1 frozen banana. I did not need any extra sweetener. Pineapple juice is a good idea, Linda. I usually just use water in my smoothies and I will try that in my next pumpkin smoothie.
It's a beautiful Fall day in Iowa!
