Re: I Need Prayers Too
Thank you Bonnie; and welcome to LDL.
'Reo is doing well; he's been a trooper through these last few weeks.
Have you got the book? Try to read it through at least three times. We all miss things the first time through.
May God bless you as you begin this journey toward health.

Re: I Need Prayers Too
ARGH!!! 'Reo is driving me crazy today! He's refusing to stay in the crate; flies into a panic if I try to put him in. He is also trying to RUN on his three good legs when I take him out for potty breaks.
LOL
Today is 4 weeks since he broke his elbow and ~3 weeks since his surgery. He has to be confined another 3 weeks until we go back to the vet for X-rays to check on the healing process.
Little Mary, today I 'feel' like 'Reo is hopped up on Halloween candy like your 2-legged critter was. HaHa
[Abba, please protect 'Reo's healing bone during this restless time. And please give me a peaceful spirit in dealing with him. Thank you.]

I had to laugh when I read this! Our cat, Maximus, is the same way! Anytime he wants attention, (and especially if we have been gone from the house), he will walk over to where we are, and I kid you not, he will just FLOP over on his side so we will pet him. Every time he does it, I have to laugh! And here I thought we just had a weird cat.

Hang in there NJ! Lots of love coming your way!

Re: I Need Prayers Too
NJ,
Animals are like us. When we/they begin to feel better, they are not content to be "corraled" in one spot any longer. When we are sick, we are happy to be confined in bed. As we begin to get better, we want to get up and do "something" else.
So, his discontentment with the cage is a sure sign of improvement. Just keep hanging on...the end is in sight...
Love,
Jeanne

Re: I Need Prayers Too
Just a few more days of home confinement, I hope.
We have an appointment on Monday the 3rd to have his elbow x-rayed to see how it is healing. I really, really, hope that the orthopedic vet releases us from all constraints and that 'Reo can then begin playing with the two other dogs in the household and that he and I can begin our morning and evening walks.
Thank you all for your prayers.

Re: I Need Prayers Too
That is GREAT!!! I did a lot of 'loping' too when we were in DC last week. I have an arch that nearly kills me and even with buying every insole I could find on the PC and in town, plus new shoes and packing more shoes, boots, etc than underwear (haha) I was still in great pain. I imagine we walked at least 10 miles in those days. Actually ended up wearing my slippers when we visited the monuments. My hubby and daughter were embarrassed... maybe because they are bright red slippers and way too big... but with three sets of insoles I could almost walk. Anyway, we all have our limps but how great that he can be out and about again. I bet his tail is wagging and he appreciates life more than ever. Dogs do that, you know!

Re: I Need Prayers Too
Carla,
Just a personal question for you...have you tried the crocs? I get mine (an imitation kind called (??????? I cannot remember what they call them but they will know what you are talking about) at Payless) and someone told me they have both the original and these and these from Payless are much more comfortable and less expensive. I have bunions...and high arches...and I really love my crocs! Just wondered if you had gotten around to trying them.
I wear them all the time when I can get away with it!!! Just an idea to help your feet feel comfortable.

Re: I Need Prayers Too
Alternate opinion on Crocs and off-brands: I have been wearing only Crocs for the last 3 years. I have arthritis in both feet and I used to cry within two hours of wearing tennis shoes. With Crocs I was able to make it my entire 8 hr shift without tears. Now I don't wear anything else.
I did spend less money on a knock-off once but within an hour I was in pain. Something about the Crocs cushions my joints just perfectly.

Re: I Need Prayers Too
I've seen them but have never come close to considering them. Like you Jeanne, I also have high arches. I never thought that arthritis could also be part of the problem. For many years I wore high heels and thought this was payback time. I will have to give them a try. It looks like they run pretty wide which is also something I need. With size 10 wide feet I never needed flippers for swimming! In fact, I've prided myself for having a good under'standing.' That is until these last few months when I can barely handle the pain of standing or walking. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: I Need Prayers Too
Carla I have very high arches too.
niki, I REALLY recommend the actual Crocs brand. Not a knock off. They are expensive but well worth it to my feet.

Re: I Need Prayers Too
Yes, I went to their site, too, Niki... and guess what, Carla? They have Crocs for high arches!
I have a pair of knock-offs - they're just ok - I didn't realize that the name brand might be more comfortable. I may have to go to the store and try them on.

Re: I Need Prayers Too
So they make them specially for high arches? I glanced at their site but I guess I better study it closer. No offense to you croc wearers, but they sure don't seem very attractive (but neither are my slippers!). And they seem like they would be cold (in MN) or hot in the summer. Plastic?

I think I'll have to see how they fit. Did someone say the real Crocs are also sold at Payless? Well... at least they are better looking than the z-coil shoes. I tried those on once and although they are very comfy and leather (expensive too), I concluded I would break my neck walking on steps or over a rug.
