Humus

Post by mroszczak1 »

Is it ok to have humus as your LDL dinner at  lunch time? Sometimes Im not in the mood for meat and even though I love all veggies I get tired of them!

Yes Cindy you can have hummus, and of course you know to check the ingredients if you haven't made your own.  Beans can be eaten any time!

My husband eats refried beans everyday and has lost and kept his weight off doing so.  If you love refried beans enough to eat everyday go for it.  It is wonderful with the eggs in the morning or even on the corn thins.  There is a refried bean soup on the boards that is wonderful.

Cindy - I love hummus too and it seems like I have been eating it just about every day too (and it is so easy to make).  Between the garbanzo nuts, the hummus and the soups with garbanzo beans, I have been keeping my pantry very well stocked with garbonzo beans.  It seems like I buy them just about every time I go to the grocery store.  I also really like the butter bean soup, I made recently, and the faux mashed potatoes, made with butter beans, so I have been keeping my self really stocked up with butter beans too.  I have never had so many beans in my whole life until LDL...lol....but really good and filling.  Jerrie :)

Thanks Wendy for the suggestion on the Refried Bean Soup.  I haven't run across that one yet.  I'm going to look for it.  Jerrie :)

There is also a recipe out there by(Duecer Pigeon) it is called black bean mexican soup I think. I have it all the time, easy and I absolutly love it.
1 can Black beans rinsed and drained
1 can ff refried beans
1 can rotel tomatos
1 can ff chicken broth
leftover chicken or just use the canned.

I don't use even the chicken, this is a get soup and quick.

Rodie - thanks for bringing this recipe up on the boards.  I hadn't seen it before.  I like how the measurement of all ingredients is one can.  Makes it easy to remember.  Jerrie
