Re: Linda RN's Journal
I think I will stick to the egg beaters and refried beans for breakfast and vegetables and fruit for dinner. It is hard to break a life long habit of having a hot dinner. Vegetables seems to work.

Re: Linda RN's Journal
It was hard for me too to do just the fruit at night. I guess it was when the watermelons hit the stores, we started having either fruit or popcorn at night. DH still opens a can of chili late in the evening, but I just go to bed (he is closer to goal than I am). I am a heavy sleeper so I only wake up at night to run to the bathroom after eating lots of watermelon. I never had the habit of eating after I once went to bed. Breaking habits is hard so it is best to make slow changes. Just eat anytime you are hungry but only LDL foods. You may not loose for a while but that is OK as long as you are not gaining. Your body will let you know when you are ready for more changes. It took 5 months for me and I was surprised when I no longer was hungry at 6am. You are doing the right thing, just hang in there.

Thank you for the encouragement. I have been doing better this week. No night eating and haven't needed popcorn at night. I have lost a little weight so far

Re: Linda RN's Journal
Good for you, Pat. Keep up making new habit of not getting up middle of night to snack!
Well, I thought I had the blood sugar thing under control until yesterday. I had 2 bananas, a nectarine and an apple left over at work and thought about getting a salad, but I was going to be getting off at 3pm and we got so busy at lunch, I barely took 15 min to eat the fruit on the run. I got off and went to the bank and at about 4pm I "bottomed out." Started getting shaky, light-headed and weak. Decided to go to Carl Jr's and got an Apple, Cranberry, Walnut Salad. It was so good! DH had been wanting a hamburger for several days, so I got him a Famous Star Burger and then I noticed the Low Carb Burger. It is basically a lettuce wrap burger. I brought both home and DH ate the burger on the bun, since he was full, I tried the lettuce wrap. It was sooo good but I did not see that it came with cheese. The cheese did not taste good at all so I raked it off. We don't eat out very much at all so if we are in town sometime I will do this burger again minus the cheese. I am sure the meat is not very low fat, but is a better choice for a once in a while. May try it for lunch sometime.

That's what happens to me when I have a smoothie.
In California there are fast food places called IN & OUt Burger. They have a delicious lettuce wrapped burger. It does make a great meal.

Re: Linda RN's Journal
Pat,
Having a smoothie at night has not done that to me even with only having watermlon for supper. But I don't even want to try a smoothie early in the day unless it was just before lunch. So far just one piece of fruit has been OK around 10am. Then I eat lunch 12-12:30. Friday though, I just had more fruit. May have been OK if I had another piece of fruit around 3pm. Guess my body was used to getting a meal at noon and when there just wasn't anything more there at 4pm, I crashed. Maybe a smoothie an hour or 2 after supper will curb the sweet tooth and feel like desert. For some reason, I was not much in the mood for smoothies this summer until it was over 100 for several days. I don't crave them enough to make them, though. The ones I had DH made for us, LOL. They are great if you are craving ice cream. If not, they are not necessary. Whole fruit is just as filling.

Re: Linda RN's Journal
Hi! Beth here. :)
Just dropped by to say hi and see how you are? :rose:
I have been really enjoying fruit lately and not wanting smoothies which was surprising to me! Just fruit has been so so good!
I feel like a Turtle as you may know but I have stuck with LDL and it sure has paid off for me! I'm recommitting now to stick to LDL more strictly because I have been at the same weight for 5 months but I know it is because I made too many exceptions!
I'm interested to see what will happen as I am following the plan without exceptions again! :)
It is an exciting thought, isn't it?

Re: Linda RN's Journal
Hi beth and thanks for popping in.
When I started LDL I went 5 months without any loss. Then I dropped about 20lbs and slowed again. In spite of the scales not moving, I am wearing sizes I used to wear when I was 20lbs lighter. I am still not exercising yet. Just have not commited to it like I commited to eating LDL. I believe the scales would match my clothes size if I would do some regular exercise. I have been at this nearly a year now and wish my results were as dramatic as some, but oh well, it is happening, and I will reach goal soon.

I was happy to see you posting in your journal. You have given me so much good advice in the past that it is nice to see how you are doing. It sounds like you are doing very well on LDL and the weight is coming off.

Congratulations Linda on such wonderful progress!
Turtles or not ... progress is the most important even if slower and keeping it off is so impressive! Something I could never do before!
What a blessing LDL is and I am so thankful for you folks encouraging me!
Thanks!

Beth

Re: Linda RN's Journal
So happy that the clothes I tried on lst year that were very tight are very loose this year.
What joy! Still marvelling I am wearing clothes that only fit when I was 20lbs lighter than I am today.
So thankful at the way LDL has reshaped my body as no other plan has.

Re: Linda RN's Journal
Wow Linda good for you. I am looking forward to the day when I can wear a size 14 again! Even with 10 pounds gone, I really don't feel much of a difference in my size 18 pants!

I had to discard 20lbs before I could "feel" the difference. Hang in there, the reshaping is amazing!

Re: Linda RN's Journal
Took a day off work and did some closet cleaning. Boxed up a bunch of clothes that are way too big and tried on clothes that I could not even squeeze into that now fits very loose. I'm happy! But now I found alot of really nice clothes that look nice on me now but wondering when I will wear them. I live in scrubs and am too tired on days off to feel like going anywhere. Guess I could become June Cleaver and dress up (complete with pearls) to cook and clean on weekends!

Linda
It would be great to give cloths away that were to big. I've just given away clothes that were to small
It will be a great
day when the big ones go. Thanks for sharing.

Darn, I was going to have someone take a picture of me beside the OU sign in front and forgot until you just reminded me today
