God bless the USA
What a wonderful weekend!!! Country Girl's son and my Grandson, Zachary, was commissioned 2ND Lieutenant on Friday evening and on Saturday, he was one of two men who got their college degrees. He and another man got their diplomas and were recognized as commissioned officers. They received a standing ovation from the huge crowd. Needless to say, we were bursting with pride, and so thankful that he loves freedom so much that he is willing to protect it for all of us. We had a big party after the commission ceremony at Reno's. Country Girl looked nice while pinning his badge on his uniform. Today we had the cantata at Church. I've worked all day in the Church's kitchen. We had a huge crowd to eat. My DH sings in the choir. It was a wonderful program. The food was good too. A lot of LDLers there. Many good choices. This week will also be busy with family and friends. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

My son has been to see a recruiter recently and is considering enlistment. I do have mixed feelings, but i am sure it will be good for him. it will give him more life experiences, a chance to serve his country and learn great job skills. since Jason never went to college i dont think he will ever get to be an officer, but hopefully he will still do well.
I know you are very proud.

Re: God bless the USA
Thanks Folks. Also Renee, your son can have a wonderful like as an enlisted recruit. We have a friend who has a son leaving on the 18Th of Jan. He's a bright young man who wants discipline in his life, and he can't find a good job, and college is not for him, and he loves the USA and the freedom we have, so went Army strong. Another friend's son went Marine, and my grand Nephew got an Airforce Academy appointment. Our Zachary influenced all these boys. We have some people who ask why would he want to be in the service. My answer to them, "Aren't you glad, we have people of his stature, who allows your sons and daughters do what they want to do. Freedom is not cheap. " I thank the Lord that we live in a country where we can pursue our dreams. Thanks, Renee, for sharing. I go to Columbus tomorrow for the doctor to look at my leg---she's a vein specialists. The weather is supposed to be bad, but my DH is driving a 4 wheel drive for me. I plan to do some shopping on my way home. It is still very cold, but nothing like some places. The football game tonight is going to be outside--it looks so cold there.

Wanda- Congratulations on having such a wonderful grandson. Take care of that leg. Maybe your doctor won't want you to shop with your leg problem. Good luck. I'll be thinking of you. Pam
