A bit worried!

Post by jacksprattswife »

As a newcomer I am a bit worried as I already lost some weight on a low carb plan.  It feels strange to be eating all this fruit and this evening the frozen grapes are making me want more and more of them! Normally I would eat a hunk of cheese on my low carb plan and that would be the end of my evening hunger.  Is this plan going to work for me?

Technically, the fruit is loaded with fiber and lots of liquid so eat all you want.
For me, sometimes the fruit seems to make me hungrier for more and I sometimes gain.
Grapes and bananas are the worse for me so I limit them and eat more of the other fruits like apples and pears and oranges.
You may want to try popcorn at night to help fill you up or a smoothie with white beans. You can also do a meatless bean soup in the evening or try the refries and salsa on corn thins.
But that being said as long as you are loosing, you can continue to eat the grapes.....no matter how many it takes to fill you up and still loose. Roger did.
The beauty of LDL is that it is very adaptable to your unique situation.

Thank you!  Do you think it is OK for me to have a cup of FF milk in the morning with my fruit or a little FF yogurt?  I am so used to having some protein to help me last throughout the day...JSW

Thanks...I feel I might have to customize this plan a little bit for myself.  But that's what it's all about isn't it?  JSW

When you are starting try staying a pure as possible.  I eat my fruit for breakfast but I also have fat free beans on cornthins to keep me going until lunch.  Some days I have beans three times. and popcorn for a snack.  Glad to have you on board

It is a difficult to break previous thinking patterns regarding "diet".  I had been on a low carb diet but the only way I can describe it is my insides or blood felt sick.  Eating LDL my insides feel clean.  Low carb diets put you in eating/craving frenzies, LDL does not.  In the beginning I had to eat a lot of fruit, these days I eat less fruit and more veggies.  I am one of those that need more protein and have lean protein at least twice a day.  I am working towards the once a day protein meal and I will when my body does some more adjusting.  LDL also targets the stomach area where previously the only thing that did that for me were low carb diets.  This is soooooooo much easier and better too!  Keep reading these forums and the book and you'll get more ideas as you go along.  You'll find a lot of great caring people on this forum.  Eat and lose weight, unbelievable!  LDL, I love it!

Roger, Thank you for sharing with all of us!  It took a lot of dedication and perseverance on your part to bring this to us especially when it is so different than anything out there to lose weight.  May God bless you for it.  *love*

Thank you, LindaRN!  I really appreciate all of your words on this forum.  You are always lending a hand or a kind word.  :rose:

I found myself amused yesterday as in the beginning of my weight loss people that don't know me all that well noticed I had lost weight and asked "What are you doing to lose the weight?" and now people that I am closest too that have seen me try one thing after another only to fail and be miserable only to try something else time after time and now see that I am so pleased with what I am doing are asking "Now what exactly did you say you are doing and how much weight have you lost?" I tell them and then surprised they say "Wow, you have lost that much?" and I confirm again.  :D  (I do try to not grin too big.)  I tell them if they can't afford the book to borrow it from their local library and to check out this forum and when they are ready they can purchase the book.  I am really enjoying this so much!

Thank you all!  God bless each and everyone of you and please heavenly Father help those that are struggling and for those to find you and LDL. In Jesus name I pray.  Amen  *love*

Very interesting.  You and I are in similar situations.  I have lost tons of weight on low carb myself.  I feel fitter today than I have in quite sometime.  I've done low carbing a few times and lost a lot of weight.  With any diet, you can gain it back.  I did.  Then, I went back to low carbing 6 months ago and lost a good deal of weight.  I am just not getting maximum benefits from low carbing with regards to my workouts, though.  That is why I started looking at this diet/woe.

I have the same question as you.  I do NOT want to gain my weight back again.  For me, it is too hard to come off. Yet, I am fairly bored with eating low carb now again.  That is the other factor.  You know how on low carb all you want to do is just eat an apple.  Not candy, not chips, but an apple.  I've done that.  I feel I fall of the wagon by eating a pear or apple.  It is hilarious.  I think I am willing to invest a few weeks in this way of eating just to see if I have better workouts and if my weight does fluctuate.  I will give it a try and let you know.

MLFH and Javabean, LDL gives us food freedom.  I too was a low carb, but it is bondage.  This WOE is working for you, and you feel satisfied.  I lost 60 lbs in a year and I have kept it off without ever feeling deprived.  I still can't believe it.  When I shop for size 6 instead of 16, I just have to praise the Lord for His faithfulness.  Roger certainly gave us a good plan.  So glad you're both on the boards.    Remember, EAT, EAT, and don't count the calories or carbs.  We're free.  :)     JF

Thank you, Joyful Friend!  So pleased to hear how LDL has worked for you and for the encouragement.  I have been with this new way of eating since October with a 20 lb loss and absolutely loving LDL.  You couldn't pay me to do anything else and I love the freedom, no counting or measuring, etc.  I'm hooked!

I know for most of the new LDLrs this quote is hard to get their heads around because of old "diet" thinking.  Even though I did not have as much weight to lose like a lot of members, I did go from a size 12 to a 6 in less than a year and have kept my weight off for over a year.  This way of eating works but you have to be patient because your body is adjusting to accepting foods you have eliminated on a low carb diet.

One important thing that is not mentioned much here on the forum is the fact that the LDL way of eating redistributes your weight.  Since I can remember (as far back as my teens) I had "thunder thighs" and without exercising at all this way of eating has eliminated my big thighs.  Now I can buy a pair of jeans/slacks to fit my waist (always smaller than my thighs) instead of trying to find a size to fit my thighs!

Exactly what has happened to me and I am still in awe of it. No other way of eating has reduced the size of my hips and thighs like this one has and I still have more than have my weight to loose!

VL and Linda, exactly, our weight is redistributed.  I used to have thunderthighs.  I called them my weapon, but no more.  I was looking for a new suit, and I put size 8 back on the rack  for size 6 and another lady was looking for size 12.  She was putting size 10 back on the rack.  At dress barn, I can wear size 4.  She said the size 10 was too small.  She commented on how tiny I was and how well proportioned I am. She said she used to be that way, so  I told her about LDL.  It still feels like a dream.  MLFH, getting hooked is right.  I am very satisfied with the food variety.  It is soup weather here, but we can make a different one every day.  I'm going to try the corn chowder today.  It was put on the boards in 05.  Encouragement from all on the boards to everyone on here is nice.  I feel 2011 will be the year for many to reach  personal goals.  Better health was one of mine, and my doctor is so pleased.  I hope many will be at the Keys in November.  VL, I would call you petite, and would never guess that you had ever been large.  Isn't LDL wonderful!!!   JF

I probably wouldn't say low carbing is bondage.  It does get boring.  From just reading a number of posts on this forum it appears even this way of eating may become boring.  People have written about jumping off the wagon quite a bit.  Any way of eating where there are rules on what you eat and quantities may become boring after a while.  I am just ready to see about another way of eating right now.
