Re: THE RACE ON THE LOOSE CABOOSE
Status Update:
After my "other morning activities" and shower, I decided to reweigh. 175#
That means I am down 51 pounds!
So that is down 1 more pound since the last low I recorded a few weeks ago before gaining a couple pounds.
Congratulations to everyone still discarding.
We will soon be catching Crickadoodle, Joyful Friend and Ollie soon!

Re: THE RACE ON THE LOOSE CABOOSE
Thanks Roger - I did so well before the holidays, losing 16 pounds. I haven't lost more than 2 pounds in years. I know the plan works but I am just so weak lately. I did good yesterday and then today my husband brought home pizza and bought me a York peppermint patty and my daughter made blueberry muffins and that was it - I overate the wrong foods. I am getting so discouraged. I still have so much to lose! I will have to start praying for willpower. I know that once I can get through the first week, the cravings will go away! These boards are wonderful for the support!!

Re: THE RACE ON THE LOOSE CABOOSE
Mary is right, Jencita.
Can't have any of that stuff in the house for at least several months.
Once you have taken off 30lbs or more you won't want to eat any of it even if it is around.
I love the way I look and how my clothes fit now, so when the hospital administrator brought around a big box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, I covered my eyes and said NOOOOOO.
I know what that stuff does to me. I can resist now!
It will happen for you.
Just keep thinking, no wheat, no rice, no oats, or potatoes or corn syrup.
Since you are determined not to eat that junk, then you can't have pizza crust or peppermint patty.
Ask, "gee that's nice that you thought of youself and the kids, but what did you bring me to eat?
I could really go for a nice Sirloin with roasted veggies right now." Or substitute whatever LDL food might come to mind.
Ask daughter to make you a blueberry smoothie next time or a hot blueberry pie.
Eventually they will prefer LDL foods over the processed, boxed stuff and will join you.

Re: THE RACE ON THE LOOSE CABOOSE
There will be times you just have to have a mind-set that you will not gain that weight back no matter what food gets in your way. Let them eat it if they want ,but you have to learn to say NO! YOU CAN DO THIS AND MAYBE AFTER YOU LOSE ALL SOMETIME YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH A SMALL PEICE OF WHAT EATS AT YOU. The mind can have great control if we let it. It can also play tricks with us. I know you will see those lbs start to drop off. You have done so well.

Re: THE RACE ON THE LOOSE CABOOSE
For me it takes "WILL POWER" to decide to fast, or to go on a cabbage or grapefruit DIET. But this was not will power, just a decision. You decide not to eat certain things but since there are so many choices of good things to eat instead, no will power needed.
Guess I was somewhat prepared for this transition a year or so before hearing about LDL when we heard about all the bad things that MSG and Trans Fats and Corn Syrup does to your body and we decided to cut those things out. It was not a struggle, just read labels and substituted. Lost a little weight but not as much as we wanted. Then with LDL it was easy to say, OK we just don't eat anything with wheat, rice, oats or potatoes in it. And we continued to stay off the trans fats, MSG and HFCS. We continued to read labels and because of what we read on these boards we learned about all kinds of new foods we had never heard of! IT WAS SO UNBELIEVABLY EASY. People say they don't have the will power I do and I just shake my head. There honestly was no will power....just a decision!

Re: THE RACE ON THE LOOSE CABOOSE
I do believe LDL is the easiest way of eating ever so I just don't know why I am so weak right now. I just want to eat the bad carbs so badly. I have been in the mood to bake lately and have to resist because I can't bake without eating it. Unfortunately with my size family there will always be lots of junk around so I have to gain the will power to resist - now that being said, I know the cravings will disappear if I can stay pure LDL for about a week - I keep blowing it. Yesterday I did good, I plan on doing good today. Sunday I will try to make LDL friendly appetizers for superbowl. I am going to Bahama Breeze on Monday and since I have never been there before, I know that I will want to eat. There are always so many challenges. My goal is to lose 50 pounds before my 50th birthday in August - Is that realistic?? I know as the weeks keep going by and I keep failing, the goal will get pushed more and more out of reach! I need to be strong!

Re: THE RACE ON THE LOOSE CABOOSE
Learn to say NO to all those bad foods and the bad habits we developed over the years and you will be find. Sometimes your mind does wander and you have to be ready to tune it out. I throw thoughts about poor choices out of my mind a lot. That probably comes from all those good recipes I used to cook. No denying it did taste good even if it was not the healthest. So I don't cook like I did and try not to think about it.

Re: THE RACE ON THE LOOSE CABOOSE
Hi jencita! Your photo always brings a smile to my face.
I have to agree with Linda. When I eat only LDL foods, it's not so much will power that's needed.....it's making a decision to keep on eating LDL. This has surprised me many times how easy the decision was!
HOWEVER, before I hardly started my journey to focus better at eating LDL only, I ate cheesecake (I know, I know!!). I did this during a birthday celebration while we were away from home this month with a few other little cheats. I have needed will power since then and I'm not good at that. The wrong foods have been calling my name!
Jencita, you recently ate sweets like I did, so I wonder if that's why you're feeling weak and having to deal with will power.
Like you, I have a family member who brings in all kinds of sweets but I just can't tell my 90 year old, very active, mother-in-law that she can't bring these things as she stays with us 3 months during every winter. I have explained LDL to her. She has read the book. She is interested in what I eat but does not choose it for herself. Also, she can't eat corn and popcorn.
So, it's up to me. I have to focus harder on LDL foods which I love and not let slide a little off track eating here and there. That has brought back at least 10 pounds in a little over a year. Having that bad habit obviously is still with me so I have to look at my decision to get serious about losing again.
I'm revving up to jump back on the caboose. I can feel it!
You and I can do this!
