Re: Jennie's Journal
You are doing great. I love the chipotle bowl (no rice, no meat, lots of beans), so yummy. I used to get a bag of chips and just dip but corn thins would work or those pressed popcorn chips. Okay, I see chipotle in my future this weekend.

Re: Jennie's Journal
I have to admit - Chipotle helps me to stay on this diet. I eat it once a week. It is very filling and keeps me full all day. I get a bowl with pinto beans, black beans, pepper mixture, chicken, mild salsa, corn salsa, a little cheese, and lettuce. I redeem my points from my Discover card for $50.00 gift cards so my weekly chipotle is free. My daughter wants to lost weight before her wedding so she is starting Let's Do Lunch today and I am so happy to have someone else on it with me.
Today:
Breakfast: refried beans, eggs
Lunch: banana, apple
Dinner: Chili, orange
Snack: banana if still hungry

Thanks for the idea of Chipotle! I have missed it!
It will be easier with your daughter LDLing with you. Keep up the great work!

Re: Jennie's Journal
Well the weather outside is frightful. We got over a foot of snow in less than 6 hours! I plan on staying home and cooking LDL recipes to freeze.
Breakfast: refried beans, eggs, banana - yesterday my daughter sent me a text with a picture of refried beans and eggs - she was trying it for the first time - I have to admit the picture looked very unappetizing but the taste she said was "surprisingly good"
Lunch: I really am hoping to make a chickpea curry soup. I have never tried curry before
Dinner: I am making a LDL friendly beef stew!

Re: Jennie's Journal
I felt skinnier this morning so weighed myself - I shouldn't have because I gained a pound. Now I am very disappointed. I have stuck pure LDL for 4 days and gained! I know from experience that I have to just keep on it! I tried new recipes yesterday - curry chickpea soup and custard fruit salad. I loved the soup. The custard fruit salad was okay but my husband loved it.
Today:
Breakfast: refried beans and eggs
lunch: salad with chicken, banana
dinner: apple, popcorn

Re: Jennie's Journal
Sometimes Digital Scales LIE!
When I feel skinnier and the scales aren't showing it, I turn them over and wipe off the lottle feet and weigh again. If it is still the smae, I pick up something really heavy, weigh with it, then set ip back down and weigh again.
If that doesn't work, I just determine it is lying and take an herbal laxative like Acai Berry Cleanse or Colon Clenz.
It is down usually by the next day and then I stay off for a while!

I have been feeling thinner for some time now however, the scale wasn't going down at all and that was for the last month or so. I could see the difference which means more to me than what the scale has to say about it. This week finally down 2 lbs. You feel it now and will see it later. Keep up the great way you are eating and your time to celebrate is on its way!

Re: Jennie's Journal
Jencita - hang in there, you will lose the weight. LindaRN posted something recently wherein she stated that she did not lose anything for the first 5 months, but she perservered and eventually lost the weight. I think she attributed the slow weight loss to water fluctuation (probably from the fruit). Tomorrow is my first one-month weigh-in day. I haven't weighed in a month and it was so hard not to. I'm hoping I have lost some weight. I can't say I really notice it in my clothes. My husband says he can tell I have lost some weight. I hope he is right. I will see tomorrow. Jerrie

Jerri I cant wait to see how your weigh in goes tomorrow. I am on day eleven, promised myself I would not weigh for a month also. I have to admit I'm kinda nervous. I say the scales are going to be in your favor

Re: Jennie's Journal
It is very discouraging not to have a significant weight loss starting out. Especially when you want to convince others that this is the way to eat. No matter what the scales say, just keep hanging in there and it will happen and you will be sooooo happy with the reshaping when it does happen.

Re: Jennie's Journal
Wow! I give you all so much credit for waiting a month before you weigh. I am just so weak and want instant gratification. LindaRN I had no idea that you didn't lose weight for 5 months? Yet you presevered? How? I was so weak yesterday. My daughter came over and made Reubens and I ate them. Of course today I am so mad at myself. This is just so hard for me at times and I don't understand why? After all I can eat all I want of the LDL foods. I am determined not to waver today.
My daughter did good - she did not go off.
Breakfast: refried beans, eggs
lunch: banana
dinner: chili, apple
snack: popcorn, if hungry

Re: Jennie's Journal
Jennie,
I perservered because I determined there is no excuse for not eating healthy.
I (we) started Nov 1st, and then DH suddenly decided he needed to cook (bake) goodies for the grandkids, and he proceeded to bake tons of Banana Nut Bread. I did endulge with a couple morsels and ate traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff so I know why I did not loose the first 2 months, but did LDL in force starting Jan 1st but did not actually see any weight loss until the 1st of April. Yes it was hard going to work every day resisting the tempations and nothing to show for it, but then when the weight did start dropping it was VERY noticeable! Very well worth it. The non-LDL chices I make are the healthiest choices and absolutely non-processed. When you make that decision to eat healthy, no matter what, you will see the weight fall and the skinny clothes begin to fit.

Re: Jennie's Journal
Jennie, I am not sure if this is what is happening to you but what I find is that every third or fourth day is the time I seem to need more, feeling like I need to eat even when I am not hungry. I don't know why or if it is habit or a nervousness or a change taking place in my body. Every time I get past this, later on I find that I have lost weight or inches or simply some reshaping of my body which is awesome! Maybe it will help if you know that this may happen to you that you will find more motivation to push on. I stay on LDL now and do not allow myself the once a week break for other foods as I am so determined to get to my goal and I don't allow myself to eat food just because I may feel the need to eat it. For some reason it may be difficult to fight but this is a good fight and one worth fighting for "yourself". Once you see the changes you may find that non-LDL foods are not an option nor a desire. Please know that I am not saying to beat yourself up over eating something non-LDL, actually I am saying enjoy life and lots of LDL foods and the miracle takes place without you doing anything except for the LDL food. I have never been so happy to feel like I feel and be where I am and that wouldn't be happening right now without LDL. My DH really helps me and he eats mainly LDL too. He has lost more than me at a 23 lb loss until my 2 lb loss the other day. I am to the point that I can bake homemade bread for him without eating it as I know that it is much better than store bought and he has a stash of foods (cookies, etc.) that he eats when I am out of the room. I was so surprised the other day as I sat with him while he ate something that I would have had a difficult time with (I would know what he was eating by the sound of the opening of the bag if I was anywhere near him even in the other room. LOL), it did not bother me, which surprised him too. I think it is that I am having such success and feeling so great that I don't want to change a thing I am doing and LDL is my life! I am praying for you and let God be your strength, he is mine and has helped me to be where I am today. Sometimes you just gotta say "Ok God I can't do this without you and I need you and your strength so please help me with this". Talk about power and Love!

Re: Jennie's Journal
Very well said, MLFH.
Guess you just have to go on sheer determination until the loss is significant enough that it becomes easy to turn away from foods that used to tempt you. But the elation and joy to be smaller than you have been in years is sooo worth it.
Even Sicilian Mama said she would have feeding frenzie days. Just stick to LDL foods and it does pass. And if you don't and give in to non-LDL foods start again fresh the next day. If the breakdown causes the cravings to come back you may need a fruit and soup flush after one of "those" days.
