Re: Wendysgoodnews 1st day to Weight Loss

We ended up at a house warming party called the garlic fest.  Everyone had to bring a dish with garlic and there were about 60 or more people so there was lots of food.  Most of it was not what we could eat and since there is no garlic fruit it was not included in the meal.  I figure I found enough veggies and pulled pork to get me by.

B:  Cherries & blueberries
L:  Subway chicken sweet onion salad
D:  Pulled pork
    Celery w/ ranch
    Green bean salad
    Garlic soup

I got a call this morning to take a lady to Missoula for Dialysis.  It gave me 15 min. to wash my face throw on clothes and get her picked up.  I didn't get to eat so I stopped real quick and got what I was told was an all fruit smoothie.  It tasted too sweet to just be fruit but I drank it anyway.  Then ended up at Arbys for lunch so had to get a large Arby sandwich and ate the meat only with BBQ sauce.

B:  Fruit Smoothie
L:  Arby roast beef
D:  Refried beans
    Burrito
    Grapes

Wendy, I think you made good food choices considering how rushed you were.  It would have been easier for you to have eaten more fattening fare because you didn't have time to pack LDL foods.

Great goin'!

I made a new recipe from the boards today that is easy, quick and wonderful.  It was called Corn Frittata.  I don't care for tomatoes so I made mine without and it was so tasty.

    Cantelope

I had a doctors apt. today and my blood pressure was really great.  I started LDL on 3 different blood pressure pills and now I am down to taking only 1/2 of a pill at night.  This last pill I used to take 1 full pill 2 times a day but now I cut them in half and take only a half at night and it keeps my blood pressure down all day.  I will try to go off the last half after I get back from the wedding and vacation and see if I can keep the pressure low by diet not pills.

B:  Apple
    Plums
L:  Taco Soup
D:  Blue Cheese Salad w/ BBQ Chicken

My doctor has been real happy with my blood pressure.  I have talked to her every time I go about Let's Do Lunch so hopefully she will be telling others about it.  I need to take my book for her to see when I go back again.

Gary goes back to his doc next month. BP still low with no meds. Hoping she had time to read the book I gave her.

Happy to hear your yard sale was doing well and I know how tiring it can be.  I hope you got rid of a lot of stuff. Last fall me and my DH had to combine two houses full of furniture so I did a major cleaning out of every nook and crannie in the house we live in (including the garage).  We collected a lot of cash and what we didn't sell was donated to Goodwill and the Salvation Army.  So good to have my house in order!

P.S.  It has been hot and humid (high 90's) for the last week here in New Hampshire and I am melting!  With no air conditioning in our house I don't get much done inside or outside.  Spend most of the day reading or watching HGTV with the fan blowing on me.  My poor little puppy is really suffering, but she is a trooper and just lays around with me.

I'm redecorating my kitchen today. I took 9 wal-mart bags of food to the soup kitchen. They wanted to know who sponsored the food drive. I replaced the no-no's with a bunch of yes-yes's.

We finished up with the yard sale today.  I got to say this is the best one we have ever done, lots of work but worth it.  After we finished this afternoon one of the ladies who participated was having a birthday.  So we BBQed and had cake and ice cream ( not me).  Long day but alot of fun!
Miss Donna
your comment about the food bank made me laugh.  When we cleaned out our house I had been obsessed about having enough food so our basement looked like a small grocery store.  We took large black garbage bags and boxes to the food bank.  I was almost embarrased by the amount of food I had aquired thru sales and just not knowing what I had stored.  Thanks for the good laugh at the end of my day!

I am almost out of Olive Oil so I substituted EVCO in the Roasted Garlic Butternut Squash Soup.  Not a good choice, it is too overpowering in taste for such a mild soup.  Will have to get more OO before making this again.
