Re: Jennie's Journal
starting back today! Experienced a downslide. gained 7 pounds back. This time I am doing it. My sister's family is on the new weight watchers diet. She lost 16 lbs. her husband lost 27 lb. and her daughter lost 51 lb. I have never had luck with weight watchers so am going back on lets do lunch for life!!
Cameron, my daughter is doing much better - thanks so much for asking. I hate to ask for prayers for successful weight loss but I am just not feeling well and I know it is because of my poor eating habits and lack of exercise. My daughter is getting married Oct 1 and I now don't have enough time to lose substantially before the wedding. I will be adding 2 new grandchildren this year - one is due Sept 20 and the other is due Dec 1 so this will be an exciting year. Now if only I can just add weight loss to my exciting year.
breakfast: refried beans, eggbeaters
lunch: salad at applebees
dinner: fruit smoothie
snack: popcorn if hungry

Re: Jennie's Journal
I was so glad to see your post today Jencita! I have been worried about you. You can do this, just take one day at a time. You have to get healthy not only for yourself, but for your children and grandchildren.
There are lots of prayers going up for you!

Thanks Cameron it is so nice that everyone pulls for each other!! I have always felt such great support on the boards. I blew yesterday and today. Just couldn't do it without getting rid of the chocolate in the house. I just can't ignore chocolate. I plan to start fresh tomorrow May1

Thats ok Jencita, thats the beauty of the WOE, if you fall off the wagon, just get right back on the next day.If you eat this delicious food until FULL, there won't be even any room left for all that chocolate!

Re: Jennie's Journal
Chocolate is not LDL approved, but once in a while if I want something chocolate, I will take a little bit of dark chocolate cocoa powder (maybe a tablespoon) and sprinkle a packet of splenda over it on a small plate, and then I will unpeal a banana and after each bite, I press the end of the banana into the mixture of cocoa powder/sweetner. It's good and I figure it is so little cocoa that it couldn't hurt and it hasn't caused me any cravings, plus I don't do that very often. Jerrie

Re: Jennie's Journal
I used the Lyndt 85% Dark chocolate when I first started LDL. A square or two every once in a while would satisfy my chocolate cravings and it definitely was not sweet so I did not eat too much. After a few months the cravings were completely gone.

Re: Jennie's Journal
Thanks everyone for the tips on chocolate cravings. I actually got my husband the Lindt 85% cocoa bar for Easter - I didn't like it at first but the more I ate, the more I liked it. If the craving gets too strong, I will try the cocoa/splenda mixture with banana. My goal is to lose 1 pound every other day. Not sure if that is possible but I need to get this weight off before I go dress shopping for the wedding. I am also going to try to exercise each day. I will start at 10 minutes and gradually add 5 minutes to work up to 30 minutes every day. I am also going to try to just eat fruit for dinner. here goes nothing
Breakfast: banana, refried beans, eggbeaters,
it is only 10:30am and I am starving so I am going to eat a grapefruit
Lunch: bean soup
dinner: fruit smoothie
snack: popcorn if hungry

Re: Jennie's Journal
Jencita - after I thought about it, I actually used a packet of truvia (not splenda) with the cocoa powder on the banana, but I'm sure splenda would work also. Jerrie

Re: Jennie's Journal
i may have to try the cocoa, banana thing...hubby also found sf chocolate milk powder (i think it's nesquick) so i could have an occasional chocolate milk (made with 1/2% or skim milk, of course)...he also likes to sprinkle it on ice cream
which i shall NOT be doing!!
blessings,

Re: Jennie's Journal
When you have used it up, buy the real cocoa. Less processed and healthier than milk chocolate.
