I use the same thing.  Do not get extra virgin olive oil, it leaves an after taste and is really not very good. HTWFM

Hi Roger!  I have had to be away from the mssg. boards for some weeks now, & have just now caught up on only 1 of them.  What a joy & talk about JUST what I was needing!!!  On the matter of popcorn, I have been popping in olive oil almost all of what my husband & I eat, since neither of us are very fond of the "light" microwave versions, & he would just flat not stay with them very long, if that was the only option.  You mentioned your new popcorn maker.  I have been trying to find one that uses oil.  Please, tell me what kind you found & where you found it.  Mostly all I can find is air poppers...........NOT what I want.  I pop ours in a med.-lg. saucepan on the stove, & have to do so many poppings at a time, especially in preparing for hubby or both of us to head out on the road, & it takes so long.  Can you help?  Thanks a bunch!

My husband and I love popcorn, so we are going to purchase an oil popper today. This is the model we are purchasing:

6 Quart Stir Crazy Corn Popper
Item No. 135372
Kmart: $29.99

Description: "Westbend's Stir Crazy Corn Popper pops 25% more popcorn than other poppers, using the same amount of popcorn, but less oil!"

One thing I have found that really flavors the popcorn well is when you mix your spices in the bottom of the oil popper with the oil before adding your popcorn kernels. Very yummy! (:
